Donckele··on A terrible schema from a clueless programmer
Sorry Rachel but the best solution was a simple fix as mentioned by most people here - columns having the right types and indexes.

When I was still wet behind the ears I was doing what you are now proposing - but its overkill.

Donckele··on Deno Deploy Demo: a multi-datacenter chat, client+server in 23 lines of TS
love the chat spamming going on…
Donckele··on Spork: Peer-to-peer socket magic in the air
Had the same questions. The homepage and demo don’t explain in layman’s words how this works. How does the hash get generated and how does it find the target from the hash? Are there servers online that do this?
Donckele··on Create and share images of your source code
Beautiful maybe… but that example on the homepage I have no idea what it does and am so happy I don’t work at some place that produces that kind of code.

I suppose you do need a tool like this when you have code like that.

Donckele··on Freenet is a peer-to-peer platform for censorship-resistant communication
OMG! You just copy pasted from the internet that makes a link from 9/11 to CP and then you want to do the dishes? YAF!
Donckele··on Ask HN: Why is skype for business such a shit show?
Ah that explains the “lync” executable that I tried downloading but didnt install it thinking it was unusual the filename did not have skype in it. Double clicking it announced it was a microsoft office so i just exit.
Donckele··on How does Google Authenticator work?
This could be a stupid question, why not just use the first few characters from the hash of the secret and the timestamp?
Donckele··on The World of CSS Transforms
Hmmm, still getting the error. I do have strict settings for safari (cookie etc) maybe thats causing it. Still, unusual.
Donckele··on The World of CSS Transforms
blank page with “ An unexpected error has occurred.” on latest iphone/ios/safari?
Donckele··on My First CSS
On his personal about page: https://cv.brajeshwar.com/ you can see it was jpmorgon for https://careers.jpmorgan.com/ If you do check that page and some more pages you’ll note there are (on latest iphone) serious design issues. Ironic that its a career page since they definitely need some work done on that web design. Usually you can ignore “minor” issues but when its a bank such as jomorgan, a “leading” digital company such as razorfish and such glowing HN comments from the actual people involved you really have to wonder about the state of things.
Donckele··on Show HN: Muler, a search engine for drug info built with Flask
Thats alright. I should have been more specific. I did upvote your post and I got downvoted - woohoo.
Donckele··on Show HN: Muler, a search engine for drug info built with Flask
The system is not working. You should always double check before posting on HN that your system is working and/or can handle moderate levels of interaction.

EDIT: seems to be up now.

Donckele··on The Alexander: Why did you build such a long piano?
Thanks for that and keep it going. “I think because I was so young I absolutely knew it was totally possible to do, I was fully determined and without consulting any professionals I had no barrier stopping me.”
Donckele··on Use the 'tail' command to monitor everything
Wait, i thought the flag “-F” does not error when the file does not exist and will start tailing it when it does.
Donckele··on Branson and crew reach space, return in runway landing
Congrats to the team but what a rushed job. The live stream was a disaster and I’m sure it had to do with Branson vs Bezos. It was so amateur and commercial. I bet Bezos will demand a far better demo of the new spaceport service.
Donckele··on Google Internal Comics

Donckele··on Python Best Practices for a New Project in 2021
Maybe we should have a prefix “My Opinion” for those easily confused.
Donckele··on Python Best Practices for a New Project in 2021
Well at least next year it will be officially out of date.
Donckele··on Audacity fork without any sentry telemetry or crash reporting
You know, if I had influence I’d remove all the “features”, release a new version and make a public announcement. Audacity has been such a great piece of software for so many years and would be a great shame for all of us if it slowly went to pieces and disappeared. Then again, maybe this must happen for new software and alternatives to be born - there are industrial strength audio libraries available as open source that will be used to create the next iteration of audio editors. Even browsers are capable of 80% of what most people use Audacity for. I suppose its a part of life, good things come to an end and then you have to go through the trash to find the next good thing.
Donckele··on Python Best Practices for a New Project in 2021
Please remove “Best Practices” and year from the title. Completely irrelevant and misleading.
Donckele··on Cardiac: CARDboard Illustrative Aid to Computation (1969)
The dale miller domain for the link (dang) above is down.
Donckele··on I can't stand developing for Safari anymore
Has anyone also noticed that the BBC News website occasionally crashes latest safari on latest IOS? I’ve wanted to report this before but I seriously cannot be arsed.
Donckele··on Americans are on the move, but their stuff doesn’t always follow
Stuff breaks, see if you can fix it by 3D printing it. I’ve done cupboard handles, window shutter lock handles, belt connectors etc. Also creative objects are fun to do. Get some cheap callipers - they help out.
Donckele··on A digital logic designer and circuit simulator
Hey, thanks for the reply and I have checked out the links briefly. The programs seem pretty heavyweight to what I’m looking for.
Donckele··on A digital logic designer and circuit simulator
Does anyone know of a headless “simplistic” simulator that uses input config files to define wiring and then outputs the state after a “clock tick”?
Donckele··on The fingerprint inside photos

Donckele··on 50 Years Ago, Sugar Industry Quietly Paid Scientists to Blame Fat (2016)
Mate, if I lived in Burundi I might have a cuppa local coffee and enjoy the environment. But its not so healthy overdosing in Europe - not just for the locals but for Burundi as well. Its a vicious cycle that will break sooner or later.
Donckele··on On navigating a large codebase
I can assure you netbeans will change and then not be your No. 1 java ide.
