Dolototo··on Why isn't the new year on the winter solstice? (2018)
I'm curious if we as humans would be more deceptive to climate change if we would still have nature based beliefs
Dolototo··on Kids with chattier parents are more talkative, may have bigger vocabulary
I don't think so.

There are probably plenty of examples of kids in foster care who do not share those behavior patterns

Dolototo··on Why isn't the new year on the winter solstice? (2018)
Would be awesome if more would start celebrating the winter solstice again instead of Christmas.

It would unite us more and based on science and not on some arbitrary thoughts.

So in the spirit of it: happy winter solstice everyone! (I know I'm 2 days late)

Dolototo··on Kids with chattier parents are more talkative, may have bigger vocabulary
Behavior patterns are patterns you learn because you just see it every day.

You can already see this in a lot of kids and recognize their parents through it.

Dolototo··on Suno AI
Have you ever added such services yourself?

It's effort.

Dolototo··on Suno AI
It will allow more people to do a Monte Carlo search across a much broader spectrum.

The mass will filter through this by popularity.

And good people/artists will be able to learn faster, more and iterate faster over ideas.

For everyone else who actually doesn't care that much, they will get similar content cheaper.

After all there are so so many people watching normal TV daily with a ton of advertising or blindly radio which delivers the same top 50 list over and over.

Dolototo··on Celebrating the first NES Tetris game crash
My selfwritten game with Microsoft xna still runs.

And I made that 18 years ago.

I had to change my intel q6600 only after upgrading my camera as Lightroom grinded to a hold with the bigger raw files.

Besides the Mainboard / capacity apocalypse ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague?wprov=sfla1 ) I'm genuin happy with how well older things still work.

Dolototo··on Most 16-year-olds don't have servers in their rooms
I don't think we were ever normal.

The entry barrier got so much lower with learning overall.

Humans just don't care in avg how shit works.

Dolototo··on Granting pardon for the offense of simple possession of or use of marijuana
It's not logical to solve any drug problem by making it illegal.

Illegal means that we don't want people to help, it means we don't want them to do something between don't like it.

Otherwise it doesn't make sense that the result is jail as jail is for punishment (it shouldn't) and not for rehabilitation.

Dolototo··on PHOLED Will Transform Displays
I'm still waiting for my affordable microled displays.

But the last few years they became noticable used.

This year in a outdoor it event I had to check the display wall behind the speaker to check it out.

It was full color, fast, bright (we are talking no cloud hot bright summer day and that display was in the sun and it was LEDs!

Crazy impressive

Cool, any examples?

The most critical point though: the race stared and will not just stop.

It's a question when not if as it's clear that we haven't found fundamental issues.

The opposite happens: more people use it already than I thought and companies are stepping up with insurance to cover you.

Yes the Tesla car driving into a truck, horrible but there was no genuine global outcry.

Dolototo··on Record global temperatures and U.S. billion-dollar disasters
Interesting how a few people look at the graphs witch spike quite strong (much more than just a.few percent) and indicate that this is absolutely normal and has nothing to do with climate change.

Make out of it whatever you like, science tells us that climate change will erode our infrastructure and it will cost more than not doing anything.

Dolototo··on Don’t starve, Diablo – Parallax 7
Is that usable in D2 remasterd?
Dolototo··on $750 a month, no questions asked, improved the lives of homeless people
The question is more if your fellow humans appreciates you enough to help you.

On the other side even the egoistic view would give homeless people money just to have them of streets.

Dolototo··on FOSDEM 2024 Schedule
You go there for the diversity of talks, all the open source spirit, great food and beer.

While it's definitely bare, and the weather was often shit, it's my most favorite conference

Dolototo··on FOSDEM 2024 Schedule
Haven't seen any kids so far.

I think it's doable but not a lot of fun. You will have to walk from one lecture to another outside, lots of crowding in plenty of spots.

Public transport is also full.

But there are two bigger rooms (one old one new) with good talks you can always go to

Dolototo··on Facebook Is Being Overrun with Stolen, AI-Gen Images That People Think Are Real
Dude...

YT is cheap like hell.

It has one of the most diverse high quality content I know.

Way of entry for producers/creators is tremendously low.

YT löst a lot of money for years.

If we are not even able to pay 12$ / month for YT what do you want? Everything for free adfree?

Dolototo··on European heat pump sales are collapsing
You are highly simplifying things.

France has cheap energy and a lot of electric heating.

Guess for whom a heat pump might be the next best thing?

Yeah French people.

Dolototo··on Germany starts dismantling wind farm to make room for coal mine
Only because you have no clue about our history.

East Germany nuclear power plants were shut down due to security risks.

Chernobyl was a fucked up crazy event here too.

Even now you need to test meat from animals when they are shot I a certain area due to unhealthy levels.

And while France build 56 plants we never build that many in the first place.

And countries still struggle to build them. Olkiluoto 3 was planned to be done after 4 years, it took them overall 18 years!

And yes we are a democracy and a lot of people in Germany don't like to live next to a nuclear power plant.

France has the double of density btw.
