I have read the comments in Mozilla's thread http://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/06/beyond-html5-database-apis-... they clearly don't give a damn about what the users want.
They should have just agreed on a simple subset of SQL instead of going NoSQL, but apparently that wasn't good enough for them, waiting a decade more for something to store data in is probably better.
I personally love the concept of NoSQL, it's just that IndexedDB needs a few more years, which means it will probably even miss IE10.

You can't easily change complex table-based layouts, because you get lost in the td-s and tr-s.
You can make forms even easier with some clever CSS.
Overall I think kernels should not be written in high level languages because high level languages hide memory and hardware, the two components that need to be managed by the kernel in the first place.
I doubt they could kill GMail, if there is one thing Google is good at is, fast and efficient interfaces, it may not be pretty, but who cares, it's an email client.
I seen little YUI3 but as I seen it's kind of shifted into a more functional style than YUI2.
They just ban things, to make it look like they are in control, I think this is a sign of weakness.
With GMail I can export everything and import it to an E-Mail client of my choosing, with Facebook this is impossible, if I join a new social network I have to do everything manually.
Comparing Opera's cache to Google's cache is not a good idea, they work differently.
I think this sums it all up.
The reality is that the industry needs developers that are good at one thing, they rarely need general algorithmic guys.
CS in it's current form is a major waste of time(says me who has a CS degree), it's basically: a little bit of this, a little bit of that, but let's avoid proper knowledge in any of them.
Education doesn't reflect the needs of the industry, the industry needs: server admins, front end developers, web developers, <insert your language here> developers. It's impossible to teach all these in an all in one CS solution. In my opinion CS should be broken up into professions.
What I just said, may not be the case everywhere in the world, it's certainly the case where I live.
Well this is both pointless and dangerous.
Also using underscores is pointless, because those variables are in a closure, you don't even have to tell people that it supposed to be "private".
- it turns programming into a typefest
- it assumes that a project has an architect and that architect can plan everything right from the start
- it's slow
- it's highly inconsistent, int v.s. Integer
- it pretends to be strongly typed, still you get a bundle of runtime errors, that it can't protect you from, also you have the Object....
I hate C# because, it's: Java + bloat.
I am starting not to trust Java,MySQL and all other products, they really give me the impression that these will all be commercial-only.
Agreed. It is also highly unprofessional.
> which in turn is a prelude to death and/or babies
I think this is a little bit over the top, there are short-term birth control pills and most rapist do not kill their victim, and this is no longer the case:
> Fathers have killed daughters for getting raped, husbands have killed or abandoned their wives for getting raped.
Accusing someone with rape has been used as a weapon for a long time now, I don't think it's that surprising, that a lot of people are skeptic.
Using mostly CSS classes helps you avoid the need for !important.
