Clent··on The tech jobs market is as strong as it ever was
You do not appear to understand what that phrase means.
Clent··on Elon Musk’s X is throttling traffic to news and websites he dislikes
Pedo comment was the moment that sealed it for me.

The projection involved in NPD...along with the wealth...casually tossing that accusation. It makes me sick.

Note: I realize NPD is tossed about too frequently but anyone that has had the misfortune of ending up in a long term relationship with a narcassist can spot them.

Clent··on Significant slice of the U.S. workforce believes their jobs have no purpose
Where this historical changes also aligned with decades of wage stagnation?

I'm not buy this shit anymore.

Most technological advances are economic enhancing innovations, society be damned!

The technology being developed today is consolidating wealth at the top. No one is getting from the gig economy.

Stock holders on the other hand? Doing amazing!

Clent··on The elite's war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
You've managed to turn this into a city vs rural problem. Of course your prefer side, rural comes out on top!

What a coincidence.

Clent··on The elite's war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
I find myself knowing so much less about the day-to-day personal lives of my co-workers.

Perhaps this is what people are referring to as team productivity?

Do some people work better as a team with that personal bond? That would result in a measured change but it would be foolish to expand it to all teams, which makes it all the more plausible why some companies are pushing hard for return to office.

Clent··on Apple bleee. Everyone knows what’s on your iPhone (2020)
Not sure why the sarcasm.

Security should not be implemented by anyone who is not a subject matter.

It's a subject where it's easy to sound informed while being completely wrong.

I'm of the opinion this should be a development interview question.

"How would you implement {security solution} from scratch" -- The only acceptable answer being refusal.

Clent··on CNET is deleting old articles to try to improve its Google Search ranking
This has been going on for about a decade now. This alone has caused me to remove myself from Google's products and services. They have unilaterally made the internet worse.
Clent··on Secret Pakistan cable documents U.S. pressure to remove Imran Khan
Even a serial killer can give sense to their actions.
Clent··on FedNow Is Live
Isn't it easier to assume Citi is recovering the 5% via interchange fees versus Citi is losing money every time a customer uses an advertised card feature.
Clent··on Flame retardant found in US breast milk
Anyone that brings up RFK2 does so in bad faith.

The right's is pushing this guy hard as someone the left is conspiring against to silence.

I've heard him compared to Bernie...by those on the right.

They clearly do not understand what they are saying but it is clear they are using him to 'concern' the left that the left is up to it's tricks by suppressing this clearly "intelligent" man with a (D) after his name.

But the intelligence they see is because he believes the same anti-vax nonsense that aligns with their politicization of covid including that covid itself is a conspiracy.

Clent··on Netflix Removes “Basic” Ad-Free Plan in U.S. and U.K
It's not about profit. It's about controlling the experience. It's about collecting the usage data.

Netflix was a first mover. Turns out they created a technologic berm instead of a moat.

My question is what other industries are going to end up gobbling up their first movers.

Personally I think Amazon is next. They exist based solely on their first mover momentum.

Clent··on Yes, There Is a Cure for Bullshit
"Find "facts" from that source that you can verify locally, and check them yourself."

No. No. No. This is confirmation bias.

Clent··on Recreate the cavity-preventing GMO bacteria BCS3-L1 from precursor
It would incentivize them to use or lose it.

The government is protecting their discovery via patent law, why is it not allowed to remove this protection.

Patents and copyright are very recent inventions. Not everyone is motivated by profit. People were inventing things before capitalism consumed the world.

Clent··on Nearly half of the tap water in the US is contaminated with ‘forever chemicals,’
Until one can lose their MBA for an ethical violation, nothing will change.

I trust a lawyer more than a CEO because a lawyer has ethical obligations.

Clent··on Nearly half of the tap water in the US is contaminated with ‘forever chemicals,’
I cannot imagine we'd have many chemicals left if we banned any that caused a hormone change in non-human biology.

It is silly to be worried about things because the talking heads on the radio and tv told you to be afraid or worse because read it on the internet.

Clent··on Americans have quit quitting their jobs
In a perfect system, I wouldn't pay a penny more than your total cost. Capitalist extraction can only occur because we pretend it's not an exploitation of unequal knowledge.
Clent··on Americans have quit quitting their jobs
The license thing is because it's license them or leave them no choice but to drive without a license. Makes far more sense to blame America's driving culture rather than creating complex systems of ulterior motives.
Clent··on The forced return to the office is the definition of insanity
Sounds to me like you're describing a subject matter expert.
Clent··on Has Xbox lost the console wars?
This sums it up for me.

Microsoft doesn't know how to create a consumer product. The Xbox owners I know were also PC gamers at some point.

The PS5 is designed to play games.

I don't know what the Xbox is designed for, it's confusing l,

Microsoft's design choices have been consistently ghastly.

I begrudgingly accept my workplace choosing their platform.

Why would I pay for that experience?

Clent··on Netflix Canada just got rid of its cheapest ad-free plan without even a heads up
Agreed. I want to pay for content but it's either subscribe to all these services, paying cable like pricing or manage which services I'm subscribed to each month.

The third alternative, the high-seas is cheaper and far less time consuming to manage.

Clent··on Declassified U.S. report on origins of Covid-19 virus [pdf]
Unfortunately, American politics end up being very divisive. The right has been calling this the China virus since the beginning. Anything that can be used to show that's 'true' will result in the right's echo chamber amplifying it.

As for the left, well I am not sure there is an official position other than waiting for more data. China is definitely sus but they are always like that from a western perspective so I don't know that I weight it much.

Other than the smugness in watching the right be wrong again, I am not aware of anyone on the left that is invested in either outcome.

It's a matter of waiting for the crucial data being found. How long did it take us to pin point the source of other pandemics?

This stuff takes time.

Internet speculation only takes seconds.

Clent··on Stop telling kids they’ll die from climate change (2021)
Some of the concerns here are economic. Children are smart.

I'm not sure gaslighting them will work.

It's definitely a sign that the children are correct.

Clent··on Ancient Egyptian followers of a deity called Bes may have used hallucinogens
No old books back then.

The consequences of illiteracy is finding God through Earth.

No need to find God through the Earth, if you think someone else did and wrote it down.

Just gotta pick the right book.

Clent··on Reddit Doubles Down
Many have. Many more will. They aren't going to announce it, that's gauche.

There is a sentiment of, 'Whelp, was fun while it lasted. Remember, digg, haha. See on the next go around.'

Clent··on McDonald's just dropped a brand new Game Boy game
The article is suggesting a ROM, I don't think McDonalds would risk Nintendo's ire.
Clent··on Apollo will close down on June 30th
This is where Reddit users get to prove if they have what it takes to boycott for what they believe in.
Clent··on Reddit's Recently Announced API Changes, and the future of /r/blind
Keep it in what form?

How little will it take for the communities to spiral?

How would a developer's performance be if you removed their tooling? Could they still develop, sure. Will they want to? Is there some where for them to move.

If not, how long until the pain forces a thousand clones?

I've been around long enough to see the decline of Reddit. Predicted many times but eventually, the bottom will fall out and with the sentiment of the world towards big business and reddit wanting to IPO. I see this as a place people may make a stand. Because what better place than the place itself.

Clent··on Walking is rarer in the U.S. compared to similar nations
City walks are typically paid for and maintained by the property owner. Suburban sprawl means a lot of sidewalks frontage to pay for.

It's ultimately a matter of American's being silly about taxes and paying for public goods.

We go without because taxes are evil, public goods are socialism. We literally allowing our dogma to lessen our life expectancies and cap our quality of life. It's a sort of a unique American mental illness we refer to as freedom.

Clent··on Severance payments at Wikimedia Foundation
Champions of executive's compensation is what the working class is fighting against. You lack of beef would classify you as their class traitor.
Clent··on Americans have never been so unwilling to relocate for a new job
You're describing a mental illness and yet I still agree with you.
