Circuits··on Americans Are Using Less Steel, Paper, Fertilizer, and Energy
I can give some credence to the claim. I work for TeeJet a subset of Spray Systems and we design and manufacture application technology for the AG industry:

"At TeeJet Technologies our single focus is on application technology. Our company and our products have been part of agricultural applications since the first crop protection products came onto the market in the 1940's. Our control systems date back to some of the earliest in-field uses of electronics in agriculture. This experience in the fields of spraying, fertilizing, and seeding means nobody is better suited to provide quality products and technical solutions for your business."

Circuits··on After discovering he has at least 17 kids, man sues fertility clinic
Well I think it's obvious why he cares... his children are trying to reach him. As for guaranteeing a specific number of children, no I don't believe they would be able to do that. However, I think the problem is not that they can not guarantee a specific number of children. The problem is that they guaranteed a specific number of woman who would be impregnated with his sperm but have gone well beyond the number they gave him.
Circuits··on Monsanto Effort to Defund Cancer Researchers
Great, so now on top of all the other $#!% farmers have to deal with they also need to be concerned their going to get blood cancer. So what is the suggested alternative? Farmers can't just not use weed killer. They need an effective weed killer and it has to be cheap.
Circuits··on Time to Get Serious about Tick-Borne Diseases
My roommate recently fell asleep in a hammock and woke up covered in currently feeding ticks and tick bites from ones that had their fill and left. It's been about 3 weeks since then and he doesn't seem to have any forgone symptoms. It seems odd to me that... is he just lucky?
Circuits··on YouTube shuts down music companies’ use of manual copyright claims
I really just don't see how YouTube can support this argument. A car passing buy is playing a song and that sound bite ends up in a creators video and therefor what exactly? What exactly are they claiming that means? That it was the song bite and not the content of the video that's earning the creator money? Aside from polling every person who watched the video how could they possibly justify that conclusion?
Circuits··on Watch Out Google, YouTubers Are Unionizing
... no actually, not just people making weapons are getting demonetized. Everyone, across the board, is getting demonetized seemingly at random and with no explanation. A video can be demonetized if the cellphone of someone in that video's ringtone is a popular song. Even worse, they don't get demonetized and become the property of the person who wrote the song...
Circuits··on Show HN: I made online community for unusual people
Just want to add, you might want to have your blurbs checked for spelling and grammar. They read like they have been written by someone who's first language is not English.
Circuits··on I Took Apple To Court And Won, Twice

Circuits··on The Loneliness Epidemic
For me it is a rather paradoxical situation. On the one hand I am a very lonely person and on the other hand I like being alone. When I am alone I tend towards depression and crave social interaction but not all social interaction works. For instance, if I spend a day with my family it is usually great for about 2 or 3 hours and then all I can think about is getting home so I can be by myself again.

For me it is not enough to just be with people. For instance, when I was in HS I would never have characterized myself as a lonely person. I believe that is because those relationships, long forgotten, had serious depth. I also had more confidence when I was younger making my intimate life easier to progress.

However, now a days I have neither and I have lost the confidence to strike up the band. I honestly find it hard to even look a women in the eyes much less ask her for her name and tell her mine. Tbh, even if I was going to force myself to make a new friend I wouldn't know where to start.

Luckily for me I have pretty damn thick skin and have learned to deal with my loneliness, depression and anxiety. That being said, at 32, I find myself feeling as though dying young and alone is a probability. However, I take heart in knowing that it could be worse, for many people are simply dying of starvation and so, on the whole, I am a pretty lucky guy.

If loneliness is a problem that someone else can solve I just don't see how. From my perspective, this is a problem that, like a snowball rolling down a hill, builds up over time and eventually takes on a life of its own.

Circuits··on American kids would much rather be YouTubers than astronauts
Perhaps this is because all the astronauts they see are 40+ years old and are simply not cool/popular. Whereas, all the YouTubers they see are 20 something and are incredibly popular?

Short answer, it's cool to be a YouTuber.

Circuits··on 'My son spent £3,160 in one game'
I agree. The burden of responsibility for how and when a credit/debit card is used is on the owner. Unless of course you are the victim of some kind of fraud.

"I gave my child my wallet and he spent all the money in it!!!"

duh?

Circuits··on Crispr is less like molecular scissors and more like molecular malware
Agreed, I think the disconnect here might be that the author has no idea how malware works or what malware really is.
Circuits··on Older Americans are alone half their waking hours, on average
Personally, I have gotten somewhat use to being alone. I can only imagine what it must feel like too someone who has spent the majority of their lives with someone else. I think I will start visiting a senior living facility with some of my spare time each week. If you are alone and its weighing you down then my heart goes out to you.
Circuits··on Dear Google, I'm Blocking You from My Website
Yeah alright I can get behind this. I don't want to support a company looking to monopolize the market. I will start looking into how I can go about cutting Google out of my life.
Circuits··on U.S. Life Expectancy Drops for Third Year in a Row (2018)
I don't look at insurance in that way at all. Insurance is just another way for the government to tax me as far as I am concerned. If something goes wrong they will find a way to not help me, whatever it takes, they will find a way. They force me to have it and I just assume that money goes directly into their employees pockets and into campaign contributions. The US is incredibly corrupt and if you want to live hear you need to understand that you can't get sick. If you do get seriously sick or injured you are better off blowing your own brains out.

Circuits··on I felt the fear of abduction by China in Hong Kong
"To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish"
Circuits··on US military is a bigger polluter than as many as 140 countries
Our military (US) and military budget is just another cold war era echo which has been propagating for far too long. There are so many alarmist media outlets in this country who 'make their steak' off of fear mongering (looking at you FOX news) and what's more unfortunate is the general public's seeming endless supply of naive assent too their ideals and tactics.

It isn't the US governments fault the military industrial complex is so large, it's ours. So long as we continue to sheepishly abide by the ignorant notion that our public officials are moral actors whose ambitions and initiatives are driven and monitored by their superb ethical standards we are doomed.

We have to hold the women and men in office accountable not only for their actions but for our agenda. We have to stop living under the yoke of fear and distraction pumped out by the media machine. We have to be brave and fight back or else, when the shit hits the fan, we can only blame ourselves.

Circuits··on The insulin racket: why a drug made free 100 years ago is recently expensive
The high risk drug market? What are you talking about there's nothing high risk about the drug market. Their profit margins are enormous, absolutely gigantic. If you are under the impression that the people setting drug prices are good people trying to make an honest living then you are very, very confused.

The industry is thick and rife with corruption and greed. Their paying off politicians and doctors left and right. Have you any idea the kind of people your defending? Go discover a cure for cancer tomorrow, you will be dead by Monday. They will pay to have you killed, that's the kind of people your defending.

Skin in the game? Anyone who is dependent upon drugs to live already has skin in the game, I already have skin in the game. If they so choose any one of us who is depend on these drugs to live could be dead within the year, how's that for skin in the game?

Circuits··on The insulin racket: why a drug made free 100 years ago is recently expensive
We need to hold these people accountable for their actions. Life sentences or if necessary capitol punishment sentences for the players and actors who are responsible for hiking up prices on drugs for no better reason than increased profit margins, enough is enough. It doesn't matter if its diabetes, ms or cancer if the the drugs aren't affordable then the people producing the medication should immediately be taken to court and if found guilty of price gouging should be punished accordingly.

Circuits··on Having a non-typical tech stack helped us get better candidates
It's the human condition to think like this. We tried x method and were successful; therefore, method x is the right way to do things. No.. no there are a billion ways to do things and method x just happens to be one of them.

Circuits··on I got asked LeetCode questions for a dev-ops systems engineering job today
I think I got lucky. I landed a job at the first company I applied too about 6 months before graduating. I was asked only two technical questions neither required a white board. The first was about how to deal with a temperature sensor which was giving erratic readings. The other was about sorting arrays. Since then I have participated in about 5 interviews of other hopeful candidates. My company's approach to the interviewing process seems to be rather straight forward:

* Does the interviewee have a basic understanding of what we do? * Does it seem as though they will fit well here? * How do they deal with failure? * Are they excited about working for us?

and the one thing that seems to be most important:

* If they don't know how to do something are they willing to put in the time to learn?

It seems to have served us well. I am always surprised when I read stories like this where candidates are turned away for not being able to build a quad-tree on a white board in 5 minuets whilst hanging upside down by their toes and repeating the alphabet backwards...
