Caballera··on Google Changes Tack on Android
I bought a Galaxy Nexus from Google about a week ago for $399 from Google Play. Completely worth it, as it's unlocked and it runs pure ICS and will be updated whenever Google releases an update.
Caballera··on The Beer Game -or- Why Apple Can’t Build iPads in the US
Not only salaries, but also benefits. I think Health Care Insurance (that the company provides)is often overlooked. American Health Care cost for businesses has increased a ton over the last few decades.
Caballera··on How PayPal and Apple’s Fraud Policies Punish the Honest User
Apple has a lot of contact information that's easily available. http://www.apple.com/contact/

sounds like someone did a charageback if they didn't do it one of the financial institutions did one.

Caballera··on Back on Linux (after one year of Apple and OS X)
Yep, I checked out my Activity Monitor and the Flash Plugin was also the culprit, using over 890mb of RAM. I'm running Firefox with multiple tabs (5), Chrome with multiple tabs (7), pages, X-Lite, Adium, mail and thunderbird and 4GB of RAM with no problems.
Caballera··on Iran Releases Video Of Captured US Drone Plane
Yeah because they setup along known routes of where NATO jets flew.
Caballera··on What really happened aboard Air France 447
i don't know these people and I'm not a pilot, but is it possible the Bonin wanted to crash the plane? I find it hard to believe that he would continue to pull back on the stick almost the entire time and not 'share' that information, and after Robert took control (by stating 'Give me the controls!'. Just wondering if this is something that would be looked into.
Caballera··on Standing Up For Android
I'm still learning Android Dev but points 2, 6 and 7 I agree with. Also to an extent 9, a lot of Android Dev blogs are abandoned and dated.
Caballera··on Standing Up For Android
I also notice that Pocket Cast is "only" $1.99 on the iOS App store compared to $2.99 on the Android market. Plus on iOS at least, they have some good competition from Podcaster and iCatcher etc. On the Android side, there seems to be less polished podcasting apps. The people in my office that use Android (i only use a dev android phone) all use Pocket Casts.
Caballera··on Galaxy Nexus + data plan + VoIP support = free calls
Services like Callcentric allow you to other Callcentric customers and open SIP networks for free. Plus they allow you to use any device, mobile, ATA, IP PBX, etc. And with Callcentric you can setup a completely free account and do this. However if you add any paid services there is a 911 fee of $1.50 per month.
Caballera··on Galaxy Nexus + data plan + VoIP support = free calls
I use VoIP all the time, Callcentric. I've never had problems using my iPhone and Acrobits (using G.711u and G.711a audio codecs) and making calls to US/Canada numbers. As long as my WiFi connection is good then the call is great as they use the same Tier 1 carriers everyone else uses in the US. If you're having problems with call quality it's probably an issue with your connection.
Caballera··on Carrier IQ references discovered in Apple's iOS
A lot of what you said makes sense.. I don't understand why it's been down voted.
Caballera··on Tim O'Reilly: I am really starting to hate Mac OS X.
I went from being a total Windows junkie to loving OSX since I switched over in May. No regrets. My windows desktop is left sitting, while I use my MacBook Pro all the time. I don't know exactly what you consider dumbed down, while some parts are now hidden, they can easily be found with minimum effort.
Caballera··on Kindle Fire could be hotter than iPad this holiday season, study finds
Considering the iPad has been on sale for the last 2 years and have already sold millions, I don't find this surprising since the Kindle Fire just went on sale.

Now if Apple had released a iPad 3 at the same time as the Kindle Fire was released for pre-order, that would be more surprising.

Caballera··on How to work from home without going insane (purple monkey dishwasher)
I love working from home, I'm only in the office one week out of every 3 the rest of the time I'm at home working. My fellow employees and I actually find ways we can work from home when we're 'suppose' to be in the office.

I love being able to use my own equipment, being comfortable, not being interrupted by the constant office noises and being able to do whatever I want. Plus the time saved on not having to commute I can work overtime and make more money.

In the office I have to use their desk, their chair, their shitty monitor. At home I can use all my own equipment, everything is there and everything works. I can take breaks at my leisure and because I'm more productive I can play games, or watch some TV, or go out for a 20 minute walk.

I also save 4 hours a day on commuting while working from home. Time which can then be spent either working extra, for more money, doing things around my apartment, hanging out with my wife.

After 3 1/2 years of working from home my wife doesn't bother me, or at the very least, she knows when I can be bothered. It's about setting boundaries. I also work with a partner who's also working at home who I can talk to and get assistance from.

I'm sure it all depends on what kind of job you are doing, I provide tech support to customers all around the world. Somedays it can be really busy and some days it can be extremely slow.

Caballera··on Kindle Fire demand surpasses iPad ahead of launch, could be a threat
I work around "real" people as well and I know no one that has purchased a Kindle Fire or is really even considering one. I do know people that have purchased the iPad 2, Xoom and Asus Transformer, and other who have Kindle book readers, but haven't found a single person who has pre-ordered a Kindle Fire.
Caballera··on Learn Web Design, Web Development, and iOS Development - Treehouse
Looks great. I would be very interested in seeing a Android Dev category.
Caballera··on Teachers write their own online textbook, save district $175,000
How do the kids cope with the book being online? Last year my wife, who's a Biology/Chemistry teacher ran out of books. Cause the kids take them, never bring them back and the school doesn't enforce any kind of book return policy. Anyways, she ran out of physical books to give her kids and tried to get them to use an online version of the books. Magically 90% of the students had no internet access. Mind you these are kids with iPhones and Android smartphones. The book was pdf and was accessible through any web browser. The kids ended up complaining and the school ended up finding the money to buy new books.
Caballera··on Newbie indie dev's Android game income stats for October
Great Blog, I like reading your progress. I'm new to Android Dev myself so it's nice to see how others are doing.
Caballera··on Codecademy and the Future of (Not) Learning to Code
I've given codecademy a try and must say while it's fun to get through the task as a non-programmer who's trying to learn it's confusing. Often I can complete a task but then not really understand what I just did.

I'm trying to teach myself how to program for Android and find that pretty difficult. I do know HTML and CSS but when it comes to finding current, good information on Android I'm having trouble. I've ended up having to resort to purchasing books.

With HTML and CSS I learned at the P2PU http://p2pu.org/en/groups/all/?school=school-of-webcraft which I think is terrific if you get a good group and instructor.

Caballera··on Google says Nexus One too old for Android 4.0
In Canada, phone contracts are 3 year.
Caballera··on The Coding Zone
I'm wondering what chair people suggest, I use a rather generic chair from Office Depot, that was only about 100 bucks. It's ok, but not great, also getting a bit old. Mind you this is while working at home.
Caballera··on Android 4.0 SDK Now Available
yeah it took awhile to start up..
Caballera··on Google, Samsung unveil Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Galaxy Nexus
Be interesting to see how quickly ICS is adapted by the public at large. I mean it'll be interesting to see how quickly Android 2.2 and 2.3 devices are upgraded to Android 4.0.
Caballera··on Daring Fireball: Amazon's New Kindles
Most people don't produce content? Hello most people are emailing, writing things out on 'Pages' or other Word Processors, perhaps even Google Docs. I don't understand what you mean by most people don't produce content. Hell the iPad has two cameras which product content.
Caballera··on (Android) Developer Income Report #14
I'm very impressed by your results and a friend and I have been taking your advice to heart for the last 2 months and working on learning and creating our first app. Our programming experience is very limited but we're making progress. Great advice and interesting to see your results.
Caballera··on [dead]
Yep Yep, same here. I was hating on the scrolling for the first couple of hours, but now I'm completely use to it and it works great.

I haven't hear anyone complain about Lion in my office or on a personal basis and the people I know would complain if they saw an issue.

Caballera··on [dead]
I have to agree, I'm not having any issues with Lion. Everyone I know that has a Mac or Macbook has updated to Lion without any issues and I've heard no complaints. The biggest issue I did see was one friend that had problems with plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator (i think it was) which was fixed within days.
Caballera··on Starting as an app developer: iPhone or Android? Which one to choose?
My friend and I are starting as Android developers. Neither of us have previous experience on either platforms. He's got SAS experience and SQL, me I do more web design. So far it's going good, specially for him as he's learning fast. We choose Android as it's only $25 bucks to become a registered developer, plus he has a HP Laptop, no Mac (i have a mac) and he currently doesn't have a job. We do intend to try iOS development if we get Android development working.
Caballera··on Google Buys Motorola For $12.5 Billion
Additionally how much can they really say, if they say something negative like, OH S@#$!! we're in trouble now, their stock will take a hit.
Caballera··on Google Buys Motorola For $12.5 Billion
They do have the Nexus One and Nexus 2.
