Economy is, as its name hints, about organizing the efficient distribution of scarce resources. We have lots of air, but no one is making a ton of money out of air, because no one is trying to buy some. They just breathe in.
The problem is that he's fragmenting his efforts, it's like his effort capacity is 3 ants, and instead of telling all ants to pull the leaf in one direction, he tells each ant to pull in a different direction, so the leaf never moves.
Social networks are ALL about network effects. Split them up and they melt into obscurity. Combine them, they become untouchable.
So the author had their "noise filters" reset basically, and their brain had to relearn this. This is interesting and somewhat supports the notion that LSD can "reset" your mind in some ways.
And the checks imply endorsement of a paid service.
And the people getting checks don't want them.
It's such a mess, I don't even.
I can send LeBron Nike snickers. That's not illegal. But if I force those snickers on his feet (whether in person or in Photoshop) and prop him out and take photos of it for my ads, that's false endorsement.
Do these Twitter users have the option to NOT show their fake Blue status? No. Did someone ask them at all if they want it? No. In the case of LeBron, actually Twitter asked LeBron's team and they said "WE DECLINE" and they put it on, anyway!
IT IS FALSE ENDORSEMENT.
He backs down, when he can't force the outcome he wanted. That's not humility.
Furthermore HE IS NOT BACKING DOWN right now. He's claiming those celebrities, including DEAD ONES, have "subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone".
This is false endorsement, and highly illegal.
It seemingly starts as (3), then in time it's revealed to be just (1), but he's too embarrassed to admit, so he drowns all signal in the noise of monkeying around and claiming it's (2).
For example, he wanted to use his "cave mini submarine" to save those children in Thailand (3). But in time it was apparent he has no idea what he's doing, and he's risking the lives of these children to do PR for Tesla on their back (1), which hero diver Vernon Unsworth spelled out for the media, so Elon Musk lashed out calling him a "pedo-guy", and then in court claimed he's just messing around and that's a harmless insult from South Africa (2).
This is just a tiny example. You'll notice all his companies start with moonshots for the investors, then it's about him personally getting shares, power and money, and finally he masks it all with inane behavior and trolling.
The sad thing... is that it works. Say, it worked for his "taking Tesla private, funding secured" tweet. "Oh, I was... just joking!" Boom, case dismissed. Is it any surprise he keeps using the same rulebook?
This is happening because Elon Musk is abusing his rudimentary Twitter Blue verification process for profit and forcing false endorsement of a service to people who want nothing to do with it. So as a result, the implementation of it... and the intent of it... don't quite match.
Frankly I hope he gets a massive lawsuit for this.
The difference between investor and customer is only one of scale. How much money and what timeframe for return. As that increases risk, accordingly.
When you pay for a house or an apartment that's not built yet, you're investing in construction, you're not a "customer". Of course you expect a house and/or an apartment in a few years. But you invested your money, and that house/apartment may not materialize.
So NASA was an investor. Today they're also a customer, but they're still an investor. Some of their money blew up two days ago.
I mean... how much more evidence do you want?
It's mass, MASS false endorsement. And that's highly ILLEGAL.
They think it's all about memes & jokes, it's just for fun, it's not serious, it doesn't matter? Then you're a tool in Musk's hands.
You don't pay $44 billion for memes & jokes, genius. Think.
The check was intended to verify the identity of a specific type of person, which many people know, and therefore is at high risk of impersonation. That's it. Making the check $8 voids this purpose, and to add on top of this, the most vile group of people bought into this subscription, who are Elon's sycophants and go after him like dogs doing whatever he wants and repeating what he says.
Of course no one looking after their image would want this blue check anymore.
Any other brilliant ideas?
The problem is we have only one Earth.
And playing with it, considering how shallow our understanding is of the would-be consequent chain reactions, is monumentally stupid. Google "Cobra effect" or whatever you want. All those examples will be a child's play compared to what geoengineering's FAFO would be.
