Linux users aren't interested to see potential adopters go for BSD instead of joining their ranks.
On every forum, every discussion, there is at least one guy saying he runs that game on Linux, or that other OS is somehow inferior to Linux, or this problem would never happen on Linux...
It's all about marketing, if you will...
What is the threshold where you are basically running Windows, and you have Linux installed just for some internet vanity?
Play games? Run Windows games with Wine/Proton Coding? VSCode App? This thing...
But at least I don't own Windows, sheej!
$100 to have the rights to reserve one? That's really nice of them.
Well... Good luck guys!
Linux on the desktop is a nerd wet dream, and you should be aware of that.
I don't ask you to judge if you like it, I'm just saying that you can totally make a professional WebUI within the dotnet stdlib.
I guess it's not going to happen...
Who are you trying to convince here?
It seems 20% of the Internet is down every two weeks now.
That's exactly how a "normal" user would ask such things.
I am not a Microsoft fan, or copilot, or even an A.I. fan, but the article seems to try too hard to find a problem here.
That's not like we don't have real examples around...
NPM is a terrible ecosystem, and trying to defend its current state is a lost cause. The energy should be focused on how to fix that ecosystem instead of playing dumb telling people "it's all ok, look at other, also poorly designed, systems".
Don't forget that Rust's Cargo got heavily inspired by NPM, which is not something to brag about.[0]
> "Rust has absolutely stunning dependency management," one engineer enthused, noting that Rust's strategy took inspiration from npm's.

Like a "proof that open source is working", a show case of a good quality, open source project.
Oh well, time to strike that one off the list.
What about this: https://github.com/jgraph/drawio
P. S.
I you don't account all the unsafe sections scattered everywhere in all those dependencies.
That's on me!
I never asked for such behaviour, and I have no time for pretty "modern" opinions in a base software.
Often, when I read "modern", I read "immature".
I am not ready to replace my stable base utilities for some immature ones having behaviour changes.
The scripts I wrote 5 years ago must work as is.

Even freaking Phoronix, which is quite "pro linux"

Let's stop the gaslighting here, it doesn't work with me.
Thank you, have a good day.
I do that every morning, before applying my bus-taking engineering to my job.
Because I do prompt engineering for a living.
So many words lost their meaning today... I am glad I'm not the only one annoyed by this.
For me that's a no go.
I can live with bash in a WSL2 though... That's about what I need of Linux anyway. I can enjoy my gaming and the remaining of the userland too.
Best of both worlds.
Is the problem thar one needs to fork / maintain the code from now on? Is the problem that one wants free support on top of the free library?
I am confused.
