Bokagha··on Blackmagic eGPU – Thunderbolt 3 external graphics processor
Razer Core X is plug and play with Macbooks.

Now if you use a NVIDIA GPU, instead of an AMD one, then you need to do extra configuration.

Bokagha··on Show HN: Markdown New Tab – A new tab replacement to jot down notes in Markdown
Firefox has something similar as a Test Pilot: https://testpilot.firefox.com/experiments/notes

They even released an Android App to go along with it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mozilla.te...

Bokagha··on The Nixie Tube Story: The Neon Display Tech That Engineers Can’t Quit
Agreed, I also think that the Steins;Gate anime (2011) may of helped out the in resurgence (being a literal plot device).
Bokagha··on Ask HN: Why is PayPal's password length limit still a thing?
On macOS I use https://github.com/EugeneDae/Force-Paste to get around this. It uses virtual keyboard to type in the text from your clipboard. Also helpful for using the password in programs that don't allow paste.
Bokagha··on Finding Pwned Passwords with 1Password
1Password actually has the same feature. You can separate the words with a hyphen, space, period, comma or underscore on generation to make it more human readable.
Bokagha··on “Ghost in the Shell - Remake”
I would also like to give a shout out to Texhnolyze and Haibane Renmei (pretty much the fantasy part of "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World"), which have most of the same staff members from SE:L.

Not to mention all the references to Apple, Unix, and NeXTSTEP. Such as the Whisper voice being used to speak the episode name and styling of the "To Be Continued" at the end of every episode.
Bokagha··on Why your digital games collection isn't yours to own
RPCS3 (https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3 | https://rpcs3.net/) has come a long way in the past year or so.

Only around 6.65% are actually playable start to finish, but the fact that over half over half the games (64.02%) on the platform can at least load the title screen is great progress for such a weird architecture.

I would be more worried about having the original Xbox emulated.

Bokagha··on Social Media Needs a Travel Mode
I doubt that border agents will want to walk every phone outside and then come back in. It is security through inconvenience.

But I guess there could be an option to extend the range of the original airport geofence.

Bokagha··on Social Media Needs a Travel Mode
Why not go further with the idea of a Travel Mode toggle and have it be tied to the device itself. This cuts out any possibility of any data being left on the device from being analyzed easily, social media or otherwise.

Google and/or Apple could add this as a new menu toggle similar to Airplane mode. Once switched on, while in an airport, prevents the device from being unlocked. Then by utilizing geofencing, once the device leaves the airport it unlocks and can be used again.

Bokagha··on Nintendo Switch
Their "current" mobile offerings are the Tegra K1 or the X1. The upcoming SoC is the Tegra P1.

- Tegra K1 is used in the NVIDIA Shield Tablet/TV, Nexus 9, and two Chromebooks.

- Tegra X1 is in the Google Pixel C and NVIDIA's SHIELD Android TV.

- Tegra P1 or a variant is rumored to be powering the Nintendo Switch

Bokagha··on Nintendo Switch
The one question that still hasn't been answered is will purchased eShop titles from the Wii U carry over to the Switch?

Wii purchased titles could be transferred and played on the Wii U, but the Wii U had the "Wii Mode" to handle that and Wii disks.

Right now it seems, sadly, backward compatibility is something that is dying off with this generation.

Bokagha··on Ask HN: What is the best Linux distro for a development laptop?
Ubuntu would be the safe bet. Just pick a distro that appeals to you, since you will be the one working in the environment. Also any modern distro should have built in KVM support to run your virtual systems or you can always go the VMware Workstation route.
