Bdennyw··on US congressmen: Facebook evading privacy questions
Meanwhile the NSA/CIA/FBI has complete access to all FB data. I have no proof of this but they have access to everything else.
Bdennyw··on Senator Al Franken Asks Carrier IQ to Explain Itself
I'll be impressed when he asks the NSA, FBI and NYPD to explain themselves.
Bdennyw··on Start-Up New York?
No
Bdennyw··on Linus Torvalds: Locked Down Technologies Lose in the End
Linux on the desktop is a fantastic counter example.

"I'm not generally opposed to things that allow law enforcement to do a better job with fewer resources"

To that I reply "A policeman's job is only easy in a police state" from Orson Well's "A Touch of Evil"

Bdennyw··on Tinkercad Raises $1 Million, Aims To Popularize 3D Printing
Congrats Kai!
Bdennyw··on In defence of Objective-C
Make no mistake Apple's priorities are: Apple, Users, Developers.
Bdennyw··on ORM is an anti-pattern
I have felt the pain of Hibernate. It just sucks. But I think that it is possible to make an ORM like solution work. A great example is NeXT's EOF and now Apple's Core Data. The combo of awesome mapping tools and Objective-C's dynamism make for system that works very well for it's intended purpose. Mind you core data is not a database and likely would not work well for a web service, but I believe that EOF did.

Bdennyw··on Gray code at the pediatrician's office
When I looked at that pattern I though "Looks like one of Wolframs FSAs". And after reading the encoding algorithm, seems like it is. See http://demonstrations.wolfram.com/ElementaryCellularAutomato...
Bdennyw··on The US Government Keeps Harassing a UW Researcher Who Speaks for WikiLeaks
WTF is an Army officer doing intergating an American civilian at the airport? They have no jurisdiction or authority off base. Military activity in a civilian context should sacre the shit out of everyone.
Bdennyw··on A-plan-to-make-homelessness-history
Regardless there are people who choose to remain homeless. When I lived in Finland there were homeless, even though there were plenty of opportunities not to be.
Bdennyw··on Products For People Who Make Products For People
You know there are entire disciplines dedicated to the study of usability and user experience. Zed seems shocked that someone would claim that programmers (who generally have no training or interest usability) aren't good at making usable products. It's about as controversial as saying that construction workers don't make good architects.
Bdennyw··on Ask HN: What should we eat?
Whats more unscientific; genetics are scary and we should never intentionally modify genes for our benefit, or lets investigate what can be done with this new tool? I'd say that investigation and experimentation would be the scientific thing to do.
Bdennyw··on Nuclear Reactor Renaissance
Sadly no mention of thorium or LFTR.
