AuthError··on Why we're taking legal action against SerpApi's unlawful scraping
why does google need to offer it?
AuthError··on Gemini 3 Flash: Frontier intelligence built for speed
flash is closer to sonnet than gpt minis though
AuthError··on Nano Banana can be prompt engineered for nuanced AI image generation
use it for technical design doc, where i sketch out something on paper and ask nano banana to make flow chat, its incredibly good at this kind of editing (also if want to borrow image from someone and change some bridges usually its hard its embedded image, but nano banana solves that)
AuthError··on Android developer verification: Early access starts
how many people ll do this though? i would expect sub 1% conversion from existing users if they had to do that
AuthError··on Corporations are trying to hide job openings from US citizens
or it doesn't have software like margins so you can't pay insane salaries and you still need great talent that's not available in us (those salaries might be higher than normal but it won't match swe salaries)
AuthError··on Corporations are trying to hide job openings from US citizens
this also holds true for chemical, biomedical researchers, mechanical engineers working in deep tech, software engineering is such an anomaly that it's hard to do income based lottery without overindexing on swe market
AuthError··on Anthropic judge rejects $1.5B AI copyright settlement
I think the dilution hurts a lot
AuthError··on Anthropic judge rejects $1.5B AI copyright settlement
they did, judge told authors to get better representation to prove harm. I think it's dicey cause if anthropic loses then it could be catastrophic (i.e. if judge jury thinks reward is 5x of what the proposal is would mean they would need to raise a new round)
AuthError··on Google Illuminate: Books and papers turned into audio
I would watch history pods for sure
AuthError··on I Lost Faith in Kagi
cause commenter was making claim that was not grounded in reality so i thought i missed something
AuthError··on I Lost Faith in Kagi
do they have a decent subscriber base? i thought it was still very niche
AuthError··on Instagram overtakes TikTok as most downloaded app
lot of recommendations has to do with supply, noone has nowhere near as good supply as tiktok
AuthError··on Music streaming service SoundCloud tunes up for sale
I think you are thinking from soundcloud's perspective, i dont see how this would actually benefit youtube other than just throwing some stuff on the wall and expecting it to stick
AuthError··on Google pays Apple 36% of the revenue it earns from searches in Safari
They still do it on maps (someone texts you address it ll only open in apple maps and even if you change default app you cant change that), idk if that's any different in europe
AuthError··on Google pays Apple 36% of the revenue it earns from searches in Safari
it's not customer acquisition though, Google can most likely get lot of users off safari to chrome for cheaper but issue would be that Apple would then get incentive to build search (and like apple maps, they can just embed it into everything without option to change default)

disclaimer: Googler here(not in search PA), this is my personal opinion.

AuthError··on Google Adsense is transitioning to per-impression payments for publishers
I personally just open a new tab and search for the same (i wonder if google can connect those 2 dots to count it as conversion)
AuthError··on Google Adsense is transitioning to per-impression payments for publishers
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2010/mar/04/google-ke... looks like 2 different things (barry dillar met them but larry was on phone which he thought was rude, clicks vs impressions was something google was looking for in CEO (eric schmidt passed that test or something))
AuthError··on Facebook and Instagram to Offer Subscription for No Ads in Europe
how do you think they make money? its more likely that you live in a bubble than people dont click ads if you look at their earnings
AuthError··on California suspends Cruise's autonomous vehicle deployment
yes
AuthError··on Google's 21-year deal with Apple is the "heart" of monopoly case, judge says
in the case they said it's in the teens, so that's after crazy level of dark patterns (probably if they do age analysis it's gonna skew towards more single digit share for younger demographic)
AuthError··on Chromebooks will get 10 years of automatic updates
Yes also i think they sent out update for controllers so it can be used outside of stadia
AuthError··on Dave Portnoy Bought Back Barstool Sports for $1
no, with non-compete barstool is worth half their value anyway (they still get half of the proceed from selling profit so its not really $1)
AuthError··on Reddit CEO doubles down on attack on Apollo developer in drama-filled AMA
I think he was downvoted so hard that his answers are marked hidden, you ll have to check his profile to see his replies
AuthError··on 'It’s Parasitic': Little Star Pizza Owner Lambasts DoorDash, Uber Eats
It saves you the trouble when your order goes wrong and way easier to argue/negotiate, it's the same reason airbnb works (else why wouldnt you just exchange number with the host and rent it directly)
AuthError··on YouTube tests blocking videos unless you disable ad blockers
consuming content for free where creators expect to get paid is polite way of stealing if you really think about it
AuthError··on Amazon-Stripe partnership
google pay has decent presence in APAC
AuthError··on Meta shares drop 20% on Q4 earnings miss, weak outlook
I think it's the guidance that caused the dip.
AuthError··on Cruise is opening driverless cars to the public in San Francisco
yea, you take the biggest cost of taxi out of equation.
AuthError··on I think I know why you can't hire engineers right now
Re: Amazon, I think most of other faang or establishing growing company employees usually don't even response to amazon recruiter which seriously limits their capability to hire even if the comp was going to be very high, there is no way to convey the pay increase they'd get until they respond.
AuthError··on Take-Two is acquiring mobile game giant Zynga for $12.7B
Most of zynga's losses are due to acquisitions they make, they are otherwise very profitable, recently they have been acting as venture capitalist than developer.
