What we "need" is a carbon tax, I do not like people telling me I cannot use electricity in whatever quantities I feel like. I will however respect the fact that said electricity cant be had for free.
Secondly you cant reverse engineer iOS "API", its a language (Obj-C) and a API. The API consists of surely patented and copyrighted routines. Most of it is called Cocoa and personally I would say it sucks balls. Its a totally different metodology than what most other languages use.
iOS development is if anything even more cumbersome than android-development. I just dont see the point.
Also, there are initatives to crosscompile code (in LUA for instance) to both iOS and android.
It's not just the consumers that are schizophrenic, journalists seems to be going down the same road.
Key is to not spend to much time thinking about it, just do it. The more you play the higher your chances of winning are.
"It lets you keep updated on what your aquintances does on a daily basis". Not your good friends (because you call them). Not your collegagues (because you chat/mail them). But all those highschool and childhood friends you dont see on a day-day basis because they're in another country/region/world/whatever.

Only one person behind the pirate bay actually has any assets worth seizing. So they made the fine collective, if one person does not pay his part the others have to fill in.
In effect this makes three already poor people bankrupt and one quite wealthy also very bankrupt :)
The pirate bay will have a new trial in Sweden conveniently scheduled after the elections in a higher instance.
So what if the authors of these project chooses to call them startups. Nobody has a right or the power to decide what is a startup or not.
Especially not some guy with a whiny attitude.
However, their beaches, mountains, wine and food tells me otherwise. I'll keep this article in mind the next time I visit (this summer).
I would start with the second paragraph instead. It's much more interesting.
Since you dont reveal how old you are I'm assuming you are < 25. Speaking as someone thats older than that I would say that I have been feeling the same as you do from time to time in regards to the "I must be doing something". And I agree its a problem if you dont know how to "turn it off".
If its any comfort I do know that excellence and aspiring to great things are a universal truth however. There is no such thing as a lost generation or losing the ability to think. You might look up to great individuals that seems like they are towering now, but trust me, in years to come you'll realise they are just as human with weaknesses and flaws like everyone else.
It's what you do at your best that counts.
I think the above says pretty much everything. If you're doing sensitive stuff, why even install third party plugins?

He just gets it. If you want to spend your days drawing UML, writing documentation and unit tests. That is dandy, but you're in PHPLand now. This is our land, and we dont care about no freakin' memory leaks.
That said, I dont think its a cause for worry right now, but it will be a issue in the future.
However, the price of transporting and fertilizing food is not a cost we really have the luxury of tampering with. 1 Billion people live on a dollar or less, since those same people are very effected by the food price it's them that pay the highest price of dearer oil.
