AnAnonymousDude··on LaGuardia pilots raised safety alarms months before deadly runway crash
If they thought that, it was in error. Training SPECIFICALLY calls this out. The lights ALWAYS overrule the controller. Period.
AnAnonymousDude··on ARPA is funding cheap community-owned gigabit fiber to neglected neighborhoods
Claro has had the goal of rolling out fiber island-wide for quite some time. We (In the rural foothills of Mayagüez) were the some of the first customers to receive this expansion several years ago. Are you sure it wasn't Claro?
AnAnonymousDude··on To save money on insurance, drivers agree to intrusive monitoring technology
Recently were shopping insurance providers for our brick and mortar business that has a few delivery vehicles, and MANY of the commercial insurers are requiring that their apps be used to monitor employee driving behavior. I hadn't shopped for insurance in quite awhile and was shocked at how prevalent this requirement seemed to be.
AnAnonymousDude··on Tell HN: Do not store any funds in PayPal or use them for anything critical
Stripe will do the same crap. Don't trust them, either. A few years ago they locked my business account with around $20k in it. On Christmas Eve. An account that had been in service for 5 years and had processed a few million in charges with not a single chargeback. With almost 0 information on what I needed to do to restore the service. And without providing any way to get in touch with anyone aside from support tickets, which took 20+ hours between replies.

A good reminder for me that I still need to move off of their platform.

AnAnonymousDude··on Nobody wants to teach anymore
Same position here, though I realized it a bit later in life. Currently mid 30s and hoping to be out of tech by 40.
