Aisen8010··on Windows 11 Start menu ads are now rolling out to everyone
Xbox has ads in the dashboard.
Aisen8010··on Google cites 'durable cost savings' as CEO Sundar Pichai warns of more layoffs
Brave search is ok. Google, Bing and Duckduckgo have terrible results.
Aisen8010··on China sooner or later will 100% indigenize smartphone OLED panel supply chain
The verb indigenize sounds very strange in the context.
Aisen8010··on Blindsight by Peter Watts (full novel)
The author explains the vampires in another document [0].

The vampires were my favorite part of the book.

Aisen8010··on Firefox is rolling-out Cookie Banner Blocker by default in private windows
Yes, Firefox should block ads by default.
Aisen8010··on Firefox is rolling-out Cookie Banner Blocker by default in private windows
Other browsers like Brave have this feature for a while. It's another example of Firefox getting late to the party.
Aisen8010··on Woman jailed after Rentahitman.com assassin turned out to be – surprise – FBI
In Brazil, the police isn't allowed to do this. The justice system accepts that the perpetrator would not follow the course of action if the government haven't created a hitman site.

This approach by the fbi can lead to some bizarre situations. They shouldn't have that power.

Aisen8010··on Android 14 review: There's always next year
It's indeed tiresome to configure a new phone. There're a ton of apps to uninstall and to remove permissions.
Aisen8010··on F-Droid: Android FOSS app store
The app Hacki is a good one too.

Aisen8010··on Woman's experimental bionic hand passes major test
The vision and ideas from the game Deus Ex are waiting to happen.
Aisen8010··on The first experiment to produce oxygen on another planet has come to an end
How many minutes an adult would survive with the oxygen produced?
Aisen8010··on Calibre replacement considerations (2019)
Calibre always had some update. It was annoying.
Aisen8010··on Unity to lay off 8% of its workforce
Things are going very well to Epic. Exclusive games like Gears of War, Redfall and the next Halo are adopting their engine (I'm not sure if it tells more about Microsoft incompetence or Unreal's virtues).
Aisen8010··on Nim 2.0.0 RC2
It's good to see that they chose the keyword discard instead of the underscore symbol. It's verbose, but at least you can see the damn thing.
Aisen8010··on Show HN: Yaksha Programming Language
It's probably in your plans, but it would be nice a page showing the syntax (for example, control flow and variable declaration).
Aisen8010··on Lessons learned from 15 years of SumatraPDF, an open source Windows app (2021)
Sumatra is the best PDF Reader. It's sad that the developer isn't making much money from that excellent product.
Aisen8010··on Cyber is a new language for fast, efficient, and concurrent scripting
It's a hard job! All the good names (Java, C, Brainfuck) are taken.
Aisen8010··on Spotify reducing employee base by about 6%
Deezer has a lot of interface problems too.

I think that Deezer is better because there is a button to 'don't recommend this track/artist'. I can filter the things that I dislike.

Another positive thing about Deezer is that it shows less popups and notifications than Spotify.

Aisen8010··on OOP in C
Inheritance is the best solution to some problems.

It got a bad reputation because it was abused. Bad practice is using inheritance when a tuple or a map would suffice.

Aisen8010··on 2022 was the year of Linux on the Desktop?
My experience is similar. Anything more complicated than the basic stuff like surfing the web is hard.

Things are getting better in the Linux desktop, but in a slow pace. I had some hope with the PopOs (I don't know what they are doing nowadays).

Aisen8010··on GCC 13 to support Modula-2: Follow-up to Pascal lives on in FOSS form
Oberon+ has a lovely syntax. I need to find the time to play with it.
Aisen8010··on Goodbye Spotify
I moved to Deezer that let me tell that I hate a song or artist. The high bitrate is a plus.
Aisen8010··on Tor Browser 12.0
I installed the Tor Browser to access the Z Library a few days ago. I guess I shouldn't complain, but the downloads are very slow (I'm not sure if the problem is in my end).
Aisen8010··on Some People Are Mosquito Magnets
Do the mosquitoes prefer diabetic people?
Aisen8010··on Aizuchi: Does your listening make Japanese people uncomfortable? (2013)
I couldn't finish the article either. I guess the author was trying hard to be funny.
Aisen8010··on Steve Teixeira, Mozilla’s New Chief Product Officer
It's surprising that Mitchell Bakers still is Mozilla's CEO. Firefox has been bleeding users for years, but no change in the command.
Aisen8010··on Ask HN: What percentage of users click 'Reject All'?
Is there a browser or extension that selects 'Reject All' for me?
Aisen8010··on At 88, Poker Legend Doyle Brunson Is Still Bluffing. Or Is He?
I guess he's profiting from the opponents overthinking and tripping themselves.
Aisen8010··on Comparing Exceptions and Errors in D
The official documentation[0] is cryptic as well.

Aisen8010··on Success determined by ability to speak, ability to write, and quality of ideas
