GitJournal is great, discovered it months ago and its significantly improved the way I reference my notes. Thanks for the time you've put into it, greatly appreciated.

Ledger has some built in: https://www.ledger-cli.org/3.0/doc/ledger3.html#Time-Keeping

There's also Timewarrior from the Taskwarrior people: https://timewarrior.net/

AdamGibbins··on Ask HN: What's a side project you built to make money that hasn't?
Ah, I see, that makes more sense. I had not realised that a "trip slot" was a read only thing although on reflection that's pretty obvious. I thought the monthly price was unlimited slots...but that makes no sense given it's the same price.
AdamGibbins··on Ask HN: What's a side project you built to make money that hasn't?
> To save your changes, purchase a trip slot for as low as $10

Yet the price directly to the right of that says "Trip Slot $5".

It says on their site they are using Mechanical Turk:

> To do this, we take your question and use Amazon's Mechanical Turk platform to survey 50 random people.

AdamGibbins··on Bitcoin breaks above $20k
They leaked everyones data that they were storing for no reason way past the period in which it was needed. So people are now being spammed via email and SMS phishing attacks on an almost daily basis.

flock isn't all platforms unfortunately, doesn't exist on MacOS.

Did you read the article. This isn't "just a damn ice sheet", its frickin huge.
AdamGibbins··on Google outage – resolved
Word from inside google is their auth is down, so anything that doesn't require auth should work fine. Log out of youtube, works fine.
AdamGibbins··on Google suggest vi for Emacs and Emacs for vi
They can't though, a modern terminal cannot behave as a vim buffer. You can't have 25% of your terminal as a shell and the other 75% vim, they can't split like that. I'm not aware of any terminal that allows integration with vim registers or use vim motions.
AdamGibbins··on Amazon owns more than $2B worth of IPv4 addresses
> o far we haven't made use of it though as it's still a bit tricky to find providers that will announce your addresses (without asking a hefty amount of money for it).

Vultr can do so https://www.vultr.com/features/bgp/ for no additional cost.

AdamGibbins··on Google suggest vi for Emacs and Emacs for vi
The integration is nice, it behaves as a normal buffer. So you can use all the standard modes and motions, splits, copy output to another buffer easier etc.
AdamGibbins··on Amazon Review Scam
It doesn't take much time, no more than a minute or two, I don't buy much. No its true I get no value from it, but there's many things humans do they get no direct value from. I read Amazon reviews, I get value from them some of the time, I do use them to inform my purchasing decisions - I'm paying it forward.
AdamGibbins··on Amazon Review Scam
I just review almost everything I buy, why would you not. According to my Amazon profile I've only reviewed 220 things.
AdamGibbins··on Amazon Review Scam
I'm not surprised. I'm within the top 70k reviewers in the UK, I constantly get emails (I've no clue where they're getting my email address) from random sellers offering free products in return for reviews. They don't explicitly ask for positive, but its clear what's what they're wanting.

Typically they'll request you buy the product and then paypal you a refund once you've done the review.

AdamGibbins··on Uber secures right to continue operating in London
They're breaking TFL rules and shouldn't be operating in that case, congratulations you just got a free ride.

AdamGibbins··on Show HN: Life Calendar – Your Life in Weeks
No way to save? Forgets when I reload. Nice idea though, have pondered maintaining something like this for a while.

Edit: never mind, I see localStorage on the todo list.

You don't need MX records, email will go to the A record if no MX is defined. Presuming its listening for email of course.
AdamGibbins··on DuckDuckGo is growing fast
I don't understand the needs for !bang's, I've had bookmark keywords in Firefox a decade. I simply type "a something" in the URL bar and it looks up "something" on Amazon etc. yt/d/g/t/w for youtube/duckduckgo/google/twitter/wikipedia etc. What do DDG's bangs offer over this.

AdamGibbins··on Tired of note-taking apps
It's cloud only, end-to-end encrypted. Usable offline. You can host your own sync server if need be, its just CouchDB: https://docs.inkdrop.app/manual/synchronizing-in-the-cloud/#...
AdamGibbins··on Cloudflare was down
It's hosted on AWS, you don't need DDoS protection, just a big wallet.
AdamGibbins··on Etcd, or, why modern software makes me sad
Entirely agreed, CoreOS Container Linux was a great project that served its purpose well. Yes it went EOL last month and we just moved to one its successors, Fedora CoreOS, also works well. The authors tone is incredibly off putting.
AdamGibbins··on OBS (macOS) Virtual Camera
> If you record video with it it’ll be corrupted

You state this like a fact. I have recorded video, it was not corrupted. OBS works fine for my needs.
