I'm nearly guilty of this. I've been in industry for a bit over 10 years and I can barely write SQL. That's despite writing a bunch of queries by hand in my undergrad databases course. I almost never deal with databases myself outside of some ad-hoc queries.

Call me a skeptic but I do not believe LLMs are significantly altering the time between commits so much that CI is the problem.

I think it's often that the business owners themselves drive to their businesses and street park. They don't want to give up their own parking.

If you believe in these tariffs then the major problem is how he enacted them. Businesses want certainty. It takes years to build factories. The next president could just wipe away these tariffs instantly. Hell, even the current one could. That does not give these companies the certainty they need to commit years of effort to building factories. If the goal is to spur domestic manufacturing then, at a minimum, he would get the tariffs enacted via a new law so they're more likely to stick for the long term.

Unless I'm mistaken the teams that share a desk are supposed to come in 2 days a week. For teams that don't do this desk sharing you have to come in 3 days a week. So there shouldn't be an issue of trying to have each person use the desk for more than half the week.

I work on a couple sets of rules at Google. I enjoy it. Though I agree people really can make balls of spaghetti with it. Everyone’s macros are terrible except for mine . The configuration system is where things can get really out of hand: transitions, selects, flags, etc.

One problem is that housing is supply constrained in many places. Homebuilders need loans too. So high rates increase homebuilders costs as well.

How do you prefer to validate if a model is actually useful for you in practice outside of solving toy problems? Are you asking these models to solve reasoning problems like this to get any benefit for yourself in your day to day use? Or do you even care if the models are useful for day to day tasks?

That's more of a feature and not a bug to me. Users of a library would appreciate it if the API surface doesn't change dramatically over time.
