just to mention an alternative method for anyone that doesnt know: keepass also has a feature called 'autotype' where the desktop program can send keystrokes to fill in password fields
the benefit of this over the browser extension is that there is no connection between your browser and your keepass vault.
its also handy for filling in passwords in desktop programs or even a terminal
one downside is that you wont be able to have passwords automatically filled in as youre browsing. you need to press a hotkey, but i would consider this to be more of a good security feature to cut out any chance of your browser autofilling any hidden password fields
there is still a browser extension that i use that adds the url to the titlebar of the browser, which makes it easier for the autotype dialog to show the correct logins from your vault

another plus is being able to download as many map areas as you would like, and unlike google its actually giving you the full map data (although i havnt used google maps in over a decade now but i remember downloading a map once but then certain POIs would only show up when i had data/cell turned on)
then when it comes to repairing broken parts they are on opposite ends of the scale where apple actually go out of their way to make it harder for you to do that and its probably more expensive as well since only apple certified repair shops have access to certain parts
news.ycombinator.com##td.title:has-text(/LLM|AI/i)but i mainly meant its better just because its more community based now
newpipe or tubular for youtube. ive also been using freetube lately. its just the desktop ui ported to an android app so its not as good as newpipe, but im using syncthing to sync freetube's settings/subscriptions between desktop and mobile
comaps is better fork of organicmaps and has better people running it
the fossify apps are great for the basics, sms, phone/contacts, gallery, calculator etc
droidify is a nicer front end for the fdroid store imo
keepassdx for passwords
kde connect or localsend for one-off file transfers between devices, or syncthing for things you need to sync all the time
and hacki for hackernews!
95% of the apps i use are ''side loaded''. that includes a web browser, file browser, all the fossify apps for things like messaging, phone/contacts -- so the phone would be basically be a paperweight until that restriction is removed
im in the process of switching to neovim as my main editor just so i can have the same setup everywhere. IDEs like vscode are 'cross platform' but only work on desktop, and there are IDE-like editors for android but none of them work on desktop. oddly enough neovim on android/termux is actually easier to use than any of the IDE editor apps mainly due to everything being keyboard based
when it comes to writing my own mini programs/scripts, is basically the promise of things like flutter where you can write something once and run it everywhere, only it takes hours instead of days to throw something together and its not as overkill because im just using python or bash and then fzf or textual for any interactive parts
