392··on Cloudflare K2: serverless event streams
I understand that approach before LLMs made mechanical porting super easy
392··on The death of web development education
Agreed entirely. It is the birth of true software "engineering" for the masses rather than the pile of coders we had before.
392··on Writing Rust code that's fast by asking agents to make the code faster
Well if any labs want to scrape my knowledge of such things into model weights or faster training runs, I do consulting at movsoft.io :-)

It really is [as simple](https://github.com/ratatui/ratatui/pull/281#issuecomment-160...) as the Molly rocket video about terminals makes it seem; I am sure the models will catch up eventually. They have to overcome a lot of bad training data in most languages, but I find in Rust they usually do ok the first time.

392··on What will our economic future look like?
I'm sure their numbers show the tablet in use, as corporate desires. I place my order with the waitress and she picks up the tablet to place it, citing "that's what they want us to do"
392··on Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B
I think it's a plausible play that keeps the AI boom in session for a year or two longer.

Or at least, $13b to stay at the head of the race (or keep the race running) must be worth it to someone's desk.

There's only $50b in datacenter buildout nationally (Source: Gemini, 2026).

So it is a bit of a puzzling choice for what amounts to a pile of software, in my opinion. but I don't know shit.

392··on Crafting QR Codes: A deep dive into QR code art (2024)
I resent the accusation that no one uses the all caps version :-)

I found support for generating it to be hit or miss with the free online generators, but it really improved scannability for a QR I was pasting onto a vehicle!

392··on Back to the Future of Handwriting Recognition (2016)
what is the state of the art now, that runs on-device? the article didn't mention the Q$ family, but I haven't found anything better than that plus mixing/co-judging with a dynamic-time-warping based approach
392··on The Cold Email
You should ask him if we can read the email please :-)
392··on Rayforce
Perhaps the fact that 99+% of today's workloads could be running on the client if it were as easy as shipping Rayforce and the data directly to the client.

Besides that, pure C that you can embed into your app is much easier to deploy for some (and likely 100x more performant) than stuff that comes via Helm chart [cries in JVM 'big'-data solutions]

392··on Ask HN: What hard problems are still underexplored?
I've been experimenting in this space, where might I find a guide for what to build that would be useful to you? I suspect most existing approaches are an order of magnitude slower and harder to use than they need to be.
392··on America Has Become a Digital Narco-State
Did the decades of Oxy which caused this epidemic not count as safe and legal access? I suspect we've tried allowing opiates more than once or twice in the millenia we've been here.
392··on Ask HN: How does one get involved in FPGA development?
What would you plug this FPGA into? Where will you trade? How much more will you make thanks to the FPGA's lower latency?
392··on Jury trials scrapped for crimes with sentences of less than three years
Magna Carta: 1215 Boolean logic: 1847
392··on Ask HN: Hearing aid wearers, what's hot?
Email your audiologist and ask for your audiogram. Should be straightforward to apply an equalizer to match it, esp if can find an equalizer with db(a? m?) labels
392··on Ask HN: Hearing aid wearers, what's hot?
Least equipped to provide? They've been working on machine learning algos for exactly this purpose for twenty years.
392··on One Handed Keyboard
The best way to speed up is to practice. Alternative layouts are a waste of time unless you're trying to fix an ergonomic / pain issue, and even then the board itself and your technique and lifestyle are more important. I type faster than any Dvorak user I've met and I did nothing make that happen except be impatient. But typing is basically over with now that Whisper is a single button press away.
392··on Steam Machine
My m4 macbook had a weird flashing external monitor issue. One that eventually led to my monitor appearing to break. But have no fear, it's a known problem since m1 times and not a priority to fix.
392··on Show HN: Gnokestation Is an Ultra Lightweight Web Desktop Environment
If you read the gnokepitch in the first comment it makes a lot more sense.
392··on Show HN: Gnokestation Is an Ultra Lightweight Web Desktop Environment
You should mention that it offers phone/tablet viewing in the manufacturers pitch, that's awesome over a custom c++ thing. I don't know it they'll care about the bundle size, if you're worried about visual space / where to put it.
392··on Show HN: Powerful Visual Programming Language (Book)
I like the idea, and am excited to see an experimental implementation. You will have to ignore many haters who don't realize that Excel is the most popular programming language in the world. "Stop writing dead programs."
392··on The Asus gaming laptop ACPI firmware bug
Is this why MacBooks have had weird flickering issues with some monitors since the M1 with no end in sight?

392··on Pixel 10 Phones
As a Samsung user, I couldn't tell ya. I've been clicking cancel when it popped up weekly for two Samsung phones in a row.
392··on Why leather is best motorcycle protection [video]
Is the video not one long science experiment? With you confirming your one textile experiment resulted in a tear?
392··on I couldn't submit a PR, so I got hired and fixed it myself
Also accepting gmaps work, if only it could preemptively cache the return trip for any trip longer than an hour, so that I'm not stuck with no service trying to remember how I got there.
392··on Upgrading an M4 Pro Mac mini's storage for half the price
If only folks wrote software with this in mind.
392··on End of an Era
Have you worked in the industry? Would love to help ya with all of the "easy" infra parts that you're talking about, but indeed that secret sauce that decides what to actually trade is the part I can offer zero help in :-)
392··on Backyard Coffee and Jazz in Kyoto
They might not be saying it's perfect in all cases, maybe just giving the line of thinking that landed us at Katy highway :-)
