why would you try to compile Rust? You can just download it already built.
> i was shocked to see that it connects to the internet during the build process to download crates
how else is it supposed to get that software? unless you want to manually download 100 crates and put them into the correct folders, this is a normal process.
please stop it. I do not want my devices to become a toaster. I am a computer programmer. I would like the ability to write programs for my own personal use, and run those on my own devices THAT I PAID FOR. please stop pushing some narrative that will take this ability away from me.
function NUMBER( res) {
return (tryParse1("-", res) || 1) &&
(tryParse1("0", res) || tryParse1("123456789", res) && (tryParseDigits(res)||1)) &&
(tryParse1(".", res) ? tryParseDigits(res) : 1) &&
(tryParse1("eE", res) ? (tryParse1("-+",res)||1) && tryParseDigits(res) : 1) &&
asm("number") && asm(res[0])
}
why put yourself through this, when you can just do something like this instead: package parse
import "strconv"
func parse_float(s string) (float64, error) {
return strconv.ParseFloat(s, 64)
}
func parse_int(s string) (int64, error) {
return strconv.ParseInt(s, 10, 64)
}> Updating is increasing the minor version, including bug fixes and small patches.
I dont agree with this at all. You could swap the two words and still have a cogent paragraph. what reference do you have for these terms?
poes law in full force here
AKA lying. I have total respect for someone who wants to improve their life, but you dont need to lie, just be honest with yourself and others. the author even admits to it:
> We become a runner when we start running a few days a week. An amateur one, a beginner in the world of runners, but a runner nonetheless.
so you are not a "runner". you are an "amateur runner". and thats totally fine! I personally am an amateur runner. I dont go around telling people I am a runner, because at the end of the day, all I would be doing is lying to others, and lying to myself. Its OK not to be perfect at something from the beginning. just stick to it and try hard. when you really feel you've stepped up to that next level, then sure, go ahead and remove the "amateur".
I agree with all that, but patternic is not a word.
patternic is not a word.
you're on the Docker DevRel team, why are you talking like this? why do you feel the need to be confrontational? not a good look.
> require that programs distributed as pre-compiled binaries be accompanied by a copy of the source code, a written offer to distribute the source code via the same mechanism as the pre-compiled binary, or the written offer to obtain the source code that the user got when they received the pre-compiled binary under the GPL.

GPL doesn't say you must provide source code once you get caught, it says you must publish it the moment you release a derivative work.
that's just it though, the last example is not a simple case, hence why the last example is awkward by the commenters own admission. command line tools are fine, but you need to know when to set the hammer down and pick up the chainsaw.
I like these command line tools, but I think they can cripple someone actually learning programming language. For example, here is a short program that does your last example:

who donate a combined 3 euro per month. If you can afford it, please send this guy some money, he has earned it many times over.
thats good enough for me. I am sick and tired of websites telling me what I can and cannot do based on my location. Its not the 90s anymore, I refuse to put up with geo blocking.
