1023bytes··on Google confirms 'high-friction' sideloading flow is coming to Android
Some manufacturers like Xiaomi already have a very annoying flow for enabling developer options and using ADB. You need to have a SIM card inserted, need to create a Xiaomi account and there's several popups with timers you have to wait through.

Analytics indicate that only a small percentage of people still use it and the engagement was low
1023bytes··on An Internet of PHP
Well it's not exactly secure by default. I was deploying an app to a new server and some bot grabbed my .env file before I finished the Apache config. Ultimately it's my own stupidity, but you don't have to worry about that with most other languages
1023bytes··on Plastic Money
I've just used this in Malaysia, they have a card called Touch n Go that is very widely accepted. You can load up the card using cash terminals or via a smartphone app with NFC, you can use that to check the balance as well

1023bytes··on Hackers manage to unlock Tesla software-locked features
Doesn't seem like a good idea to actually do this, since the car phones home all the time. Tesla could blacklist you from supercharging etc.

1023bytes··on The Nano ESP32
Interesting that it's using a module from uBlox instead of an ESP directly

1023bytes··on Mark Zuckerberg on Apple’s Vision Pro headset
Apple doesn't really address gaming and it will be pretty hard to port over existing games due to the lack of controllers. Which is pretty unfortunate, since VR gaming is a much more unique value proposition than reading your emails and watching TV in VR. Same goes for Meta - who wants to sit in VR work meetings?
1023bytes··on The end of the Silicon Valley dream
$80 Android phones are world changing
1023bytes··on The end of the Silicon Valley dream
Apple devices are luxury products, not necessities. Sure, they may make your life marginally better, but it's nothing world changing
