0xfeeddeadbeef··on Making peace with your unlived dreams (2023)
You guys have dreams?
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Nushell.sh ls | where size > 10mb | sort-by modified
Heads-up: if current directory contains other directories, this will fail. You'll need to adjust the filter:

    ls | where { -not $_.PSIsContainer -and $_.Length -gt 1mb } | sort LastWriteTime
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Plant-based meat is turning out to be a flop
"Innovative New Process Converts Plants Into Meat By Feeding Them To Cows" (The Babylon Bee)
0xfeeddeadbeef··on .NET 6 Released
Historically — yes, ASP.NET Core 1 and 2 had the ability to live _inside_ both .NET Framework and .NET Core.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on An ode to the 10,000 RPM Western Digital (Veloci)Raptor
I'm still using 500GB VelociRaptor (WDC WD5000HHTZ, made in 2012) as my "work drive". It's noisy, but fast enough.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on U.S. Signs Peace Deal with Taliban
Homeland season 8 predicted this.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Women: Learn to Program This Summer
Thanks for your tireless efforts to keep HN clean and welcoming. I will be voicing the same idea in non-flamebait form in the future. Don't you think that you've changed my mind by shutting me up.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Women: Learn to Program This Summer
Joking about very important 'grievances' is worse than a physical assault.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Tell HN: Wells Fargo completely offline
Looks like Mr. Robot is at it again.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Ask HN: What's the hardest problem you've ever solved?
Crafty. Well done.

Similar (kind of) trick depicted in 1965 Russian comedy movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDn174Mf9PY

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Abusing C macros to render the Mandelbrot Set at compile-time
MSVC 2017 x64 (v19.15.26730) fails with Error C1060: compiler is out of heap space.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Google staff walk out over women's treatment
Before posting opinions, one should verify them against "Hacker News Tired and Discredited Wrongthink Opinions Directory".

Edit: As it seems, the rule applies to this comment too. Dear reader, if you feel uncomfortable are offended by this comment, you are the problem.

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Google staff walk out over women's treatment
> store them for a long time, e.g. at least 10 years.

Not sufficient. Should store them for at least 36 years.

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Bing has been serving up malicious Google Chrome ads for months
I would also add:

7. Scan installation package using VirusTotal (Ignore ClamAV and Chinese A/V results).

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Microsoft completes GitHub acquisition
Nitpick: Nat Friedman's GitHub profile [1] does not have STAFF badge yet.

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Linux 4.19
OK, I was wrong. But still, it reads just like a pun in light of recent events.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Falcon: A high-performance web server for Ruby, supporting HTTP/2 and HTTPS
Looks like it's a common theme among web frameworks: ASP.NET Core has Kestrel, i.e. small falcon.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Linux 4.19
Haha, I found a possible Freudian slip in the article: "Code of Conflict (CoC)". Yes, it says "Conflict", which is unintentionally true, as it indeed caused more conflict than not. [1]

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Linux 4.19
I would like to extend this point: "I'd rather have Linus Torvalds telling me I'm an idiot and my code is shit, than ... releasing kernel with my shitty code and EVERYONE thinking that I'm an idiot".
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Ambiguous words and dictionary hacks (2007)
In Georgian languages we have at least 9 nouns and 64 adjectives for "rain", but each of these denote different kinds of rain (To be honest, most of these words are archaic, belong to regional dialects, or are used by poets only).
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Alternative code styles
"This is being used everyday in production by most financial institutions" — you can't be serious...
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Windows 10 October 2018 Update no longer deletes your data
Hm. If I don't include emoji and smileys in text, nobody understands jokes these days...
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Windows 10 October 2018 Update no longer deletes your data
More precisely: at least one Raymond Chen is needed on every team in Microsoft.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Viral “Manspreading” video is said to be staged Russian propaganda
It's Russia: that woman would be beaten into a pulp by now if it was real.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Ask HN: Is 23andMe DNA testing worth it?
I am surprised nobody has referenced "Gattaca" (1997) yet.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Coders Automating Their Own Job
I've read on HN (don't remember exactly) a story about a military service person, who automated his data entry job and told his commanding officer, who scolded him and told him to do what he was supposed to do and "not to be clever". Maybe someone recalls the article I'm talking about?
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Corporate Gibberish Generator (2004)

0xfeeddeadbeef··on Salesforce fires red team staffers who gave Defcon talk
Oh, the irony! You've just created a whopping conspiracy theory out of my comment.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Salesforce fires red team staffers who gave Defcon talk
I am sorry for my poor karma. I did not live up to your standards. My account is a failure.
0xfeeddeadbeef··on Salesforce fires red team staffers who gave Defcon talk
Forgive me for my poor English, - looks like I have misunderstood meaning of "Oh, the irony!" expression. I thought when someone says "oh the irony" they mean what they are saying it about wasn't expected and is kind of crazy to believe. I was wrong. I am sorry.
