Have you never been involved in an effort to counter spam, either via email or comments?

It is often the reason for corporation like fb and google for closing account. It is totally BS. Spam is NOT a big deal compare to censorship. Any competent developer can use Bayesian algorithm to counter spam on a personal level, and the code can be just sitting on the client side. The big problem is these data company won't be able to get your data.

Not getting tech support lowers the profit margin for the big corp. However, automation and AI are NOT a replace for good customer support. Get some freaking real humane tech support in relation to the number of active user you have Google/FB. This is one of reason why the world hates you.

I think the author missed the whole point. Not everyone has access to fast internet or internet at all. SMTP was designed with that in mind, and it also works better than other real time messenger in that sense. Async federated communication.

Well to be fare, file extensions are more of a Unix/PC thing. In the old day, MacOS Pre-OSX extension doesn't matter, extra info about a file are stored in another meta file.

Extension are only made for backward/universal compatibility file compatibility on different platform. However I do agree with the parent post, computer ought to work for us, not the other way around. Then again changing convention is harder than just type 3 letter extension.

Correct me if I'm wrong. STUN/TURN is the one that is doing the UDP punching. And in the event that fails, all the data are being passed through the STUN/TURN server, which makes it just like client/server setup where the server became the bottle neck again.

I'm not sure on how many level this statement is off. Sure, if its file where you don't care about your privacy, the kind of files you don't mind posting on facebook, then sure put in G Drive. But don't think for a second that those files in the cloud is yours. It is NOT! Especially when we are talking about FANNG here. You will have NO legal protection!

Same here. I jail broke the first iphone to use it as a handle held video camera.

I need to jailbreak to get music off it. Lost the orginal itune laptop hard drive where the music is on. Don't want to install some no free iMyPHone type of software to do the extract, don't want to run them on my computer, seems a bit fishy. I really just need root access and then I can scp off the music.

Well you don't have to scrap it. And a centralised CA authority seems dangerous. I'm not saying LE is bad it one of good thing that came along. However, whenever we trust to one authority it alway gets dangerous. So yes I personally welcome another CA. However, don't think your data is or will not be used for something. Organization change, and people who runs the organization change.
