0110101001··on Sam Bankman-Fried, FTX Team Among Top Political Donors Before Bankruptcy
This is incorrect. Citizens United found that the BCRA's ban on corporate independent expenditures was unconstitutional. PACs were not affected by this decision.

Super PACs — which I assume you're thinking of — would only become a thing later in the SpeechNow.org v. Federal Election Commission decision.

SBF has always had the right to spend millions on politics. FTX has not (well, it wouldn't have had it if it existed between 2004 and 2010.)

0110101001··on Sam Bankman-Fried, FTX Team Among Top Political Donors Before Bankruptcy
"Corporations are people and money is speech" was just Stephen Colbert's in-character strawman summary of the Citizens United decision.

A better summary is that restrictions on money being spent on speech are effectively restrictions on speech, itself, and the freedom of speech is not limited to individuals.

0110101001··on France bans veggie ′steaks,′ ′sausages′ to describe vegetarian products
In the US, at least, most commercial sausages are made with artificial casings, rather than gut casings. I'd be surprised if that wasn't also the case in France as it makes industrial-scale production a lot easier without much difference in end product.

Despite their efforts, dictionary definitions aren't always in sync with common usage, and it seems obvious that the latter is what we should regulate on.

0110101001··on Google Suspends Engineer Who Claimed Its AI System Is a Person
Note the the human-conversation-mimicking algorithm only behaves this way when prompted to mimic the conversation of a sentient chatbot.
0110101001··on Religious Discrimination at Google
The author doesn't say which beliefs of his were mocked, and he doesn't say what religion he follows in this post, other than "Christian Mysticism." But in another post[1] he says

> The Gnostic gospels were what made the most sense to me so they formed the basis of my belief. That search never stopped and eventually led me to found Cool Magdalene. A cult led by Miss Kitty Stryker. That project is partly an artistic statement, partly a for-profit religious life coaching company and partly an attempt to build diverse communities of respect and dignity based around family in all of its senses.

I don't know if this is what OP was strawmanning about with his "Santa Claus" quip, but I think it's fair to say "founding a for-profit self-described cult / art project" doesn't have quite the same rich tradition as Christianity or other mainstream religions, and might be more deserving of skepticism.

Amazon bought the naming rights to Seattle's newly-renovated NHL arena and named it the "Climate Pledge Arena."
0110101001··on $3B in Bitcoin was sold in a last-ditch attempt to save UST from collapse
It's certainly debatable whether Bitcoin has any real worth as a currency or as an investment, or if it's just another giant speculative bubble waiting to fall apart.

But it's definitely looking like "anonymously drop a protocol and disappear" was a smart move.

All these Ethereum-based token coins seem like they're trying to answer the question "what if Bitcoin had a central banker, but it's a kid in his 20s with a CS degree?"

0110101001··on EBUG: The NHL's emergency backup goalie rule
Also interesting is the rule that allows (requires?) players to serve as referees.

> If, through misadventure or sickness, the Referees and Linesmen appointed are prevented from appearing, the League will make every attempt to find suitable replacement officials, otherwise, the Managers or Coaches of the two Clubs shall agree on Referee(s) and Linesman(men). If they are unable to agree, they shall appoint a player from each side who shall act as Referee and Linesman; the player of the home Club acting as Referee and the player of the visiting Club as Linesman.

0110101001··on JFK Assassination Records – 2021 Additional Documents Release
The bullet is only "magic" if you assume the Governor's seat is directly in front of and at the same height as JFK's. It isn't.

If you model the actual position of everyone in the car at the moment of that shot, it's a straight line from the sniper's nest through all the wounds it caused

0110101001··on Amazon union election should be run again, labor board official says
> Myers’ recommendation centers on the mailbox, according to one of the people familiar with it. During the NLRB hearing, an employee said Amazon security guards used keys to open the mailbox, testimony that former NLRB chair Wilma Liebman said could be reason enough to overturn the result.

From previous reporting about this testimony:

> Jackson, who was testifying via Zoom after just getting out of the hospital, said that he was leaving work one morning when he saw security guards approach the mailbox. He proceeded to watch them open a large box at the bottom of the mailbox labeled “1P.” While it was dark at the time, Jackson said his headlights illuminated the area, so he was able to clearly see what they were doing.

Anyone who's lived in an apartment building would know this was a box for incoming mail, but I wouldn't be surprised if single family housing was the norm around the warehouse.

0110101001··on Craig Murray will surrender himself for prison
He claimed that he received the DNC and Podesta e-mails from a disgruntled DNC source in a park and forwarded them to WikiLeaks on Assange's behalf. He lacks any credibility. Even Assange had to tell people that "Craig Murray is not authorized to talk on behalf of WikiLeaks," afterwards.
0110101001··on The Assange case is collapsing but it remains a travesty of justice
Sweden was actually like "our law requires us to consider extradition requests on their own merits."

I don't know if he knew that or not, but it's kinda weird he didn't flea to the embassy until his extradition to Sweden was imminent. The UK could've arrested him for extradition to the US any day he was out on bail.

0110101001··on Refund of pre-installed Windows: Lenovo must pay 20k euros in damages
The EULA says:

> If you do not accept and comply with these terms, you may not use the software or its features. You may contact the device manufacturer or installer, or your retailer if you purchased the software directly, to determine its return policy and return the software or device for a refund or credit under that policy. You must comply with that policy, which might require you to return the software with the entire device on which the software is installed for a refund or credit, if any.

And the article says:

> Finally, in December 2020, the Court of Monza rejected all Lenovo's arguments, confirming that the right to reimbursement of the pre-installed software was due. The sentence pointed out that the manufacturer itself had expressly assumed this obligation in the Windows licence.

0110101001··on Facebook Downgrades WikiLeaks Article Page
My "benefit of the doubt" was sarcastic, if it wasn't obvious.

I think they 100% got caught spamming and are now trying to cast it as a Facebook/government conspiracy against them.

0110101001··on Facebook Downgrades WikiLeaks Article Page
"Censored" for running spam bots to drive traffic their way.

> They realized that the decision to unpublish the Facebook page followed what appears to be an attack by apparent bots (automated accounts). “Someone probably made it look like we were paying someone to share our posts with the bots,” the source explained.

Of course, it wasn't the Wikileaks store trying to drive traffic their way, but some spooky unknown entity trying to make it look like the Wikileaks store was doing it themselves so that the Wikileaks store would get shut down.
