Some of the initial predictions were indeed way exaggerated. But a fact is that their ad revenue has dropped a lot and they are trying very hard to get customers. I hear that a lot of ads come from obscure brands rather the big companies you see every day (I don't use it so I can't verify that first hand). Yes it is still running to this day, which is different from many people's expectations, but it is definitely not the company or the platform it was a few years ago, and it is unclear how long this could go.

Can you share the link to the article(s) where The Verge made that lousy prediction(s)?
"Even a dead cat will bounce, if dropped from a great enough height." Twitter was VERY popular when it was purchased, so of course it wasn't going to suddenly collapse. Reasonable people claimed that it would bleed users and be unable to get them back, or find new ones to replace them and would therefore eventually collapse. Twitter is still very much on track to prove such people right, and I don't think they care much about how hard a straw man is beaten up instead of them.
