Eve was some of the most intense gaming I've done. It's got tension like no other game, and playing cat and mouse between groups of players trying to kill each other is very rewarding.

I was three years clean (played a good 11 years over a 16 years period) but dipped my toes back recently, and the damn game can still give me the shakes, something that even some pretty hardcore games I play like PUBG or Project Zomboid can't do.

I used to say that I wished I took a milder habit, like heroin.

You're right. I have a ton of assets there, and I'm afraid of even looking. It's what Second Life wanted to be but could not -- a literally second life.

95% time EvE is a spreadsheet grind while watching Netflix in a separate window, but the remaining 5% are so intense and full on adrenaline rush that keeps you coming back to the game again and again

Is it a rush because you're so worried about losing all of the time/resources you farmed during the slow/down times because if your ship gets destroyed, you lose it all/drop it all/it gets destroyed/picked up by others?

Yep, the cost of mistake is the biggest one. However there is also a pressure to quickly evaluate and make right calls in a very short amount of time when you deal with a threat.

Escape From Tarkov is the same feeling but in an FPS. Never had my pulse race in a game like in EFT during a good fight over some rare loot.

If I had no other obligations I would probably play EVE sixteen hours a day. It's simply not a game I can play casually lmao. In my opinion it's the greatest MMO ever created.
