People here saying SF is dangerous, the homicide rate is less than 3 per 100k people. I wouldn’t call it dangerous by any means. Shit happens.

SF is 6.9 per 100K -> pretty high... higher than any city in Europe or Asia not currently with an active war... (On those continents, only Ukraine, Iraq, and Afghanistan are more dangerous than SF)

Not to defend SF but there are about 30 US cities with a higher homocide rate, that don't get nearly as much attention. SF is absolutely overrun by homeless though.

How many of those 30 US cities are as affluent as SF?

My hometown has about 500 thousand people and is not there, it’s murder rate is about 10

Where did you get that 3 per 100k from? In each of the last 2 years there were 55 homicides in SF from what I can tell. Maybe you're thinking of New York, which is half of SF's rate?

The FBI's Uniform Crime Reports (second link) contains statistics from 2019. However, it seems to be the most recent edition. I have no idea if or where the 2020-2022 ones exist.

If someome could point me to them or explain why they don't exist, I'd appreciate it.

Yet lower than Austin, Texas! Must be the administration.

Austin looks a lot like SF these days...

SP is one of the safest cities in Brazil

I don’t feel like SP or SF is dangerous

I’d consider that dangerous when you compare it to the ~10x lower rate in Western Europe

it’s not 10x difference even when compared to Western Europe with few exceptions

More like 20x actually, eg Germany has a homicide rate of 0.8 (and 0.3 if you don’t take attempted homicides into account)

Especially in the streets, sidewalks, and stoops of San Francisco!
