I’m actually surprised the brand hasn’t been used for more than it has. Plenty of residual goodwill, far more memorable than “Vudu” or whatever other streaming services are out there. Guess it’s never been worth the price tag (until now?)
Blockbuster has been owned by Dish since 2011. I think they know that launching a streaming service would eat into their own satellite TV business, and the Blockbuster brand is valuable enough to just sit on.
But they would essentially be more diverse in their ventures, isn't it so? Like they generate revenue from steaming and TV, if TV does they have a product to fall back on.
Dish has a streaming service through Sling, which itself used to be a completely different product.
