Apple doesn't care about their users, except insofar as keeping users happy can make Apple money.
In cases where keeping users happy can't make Apple money, they don't care about their users.
Keeping Apple users happy when it doesn't make them money directly may have strategic importance (which is why iMessage exists in the first place)
Keeping Android users happy when it doesn't make them money is a distraction.
Thats why they have iTMS and Apple Music and Apple TV and iCloud ported to other platforms - because those front paid services.
