Chrome has access to 1080P
Chrome has access to 720p because it only has Widevine Level 3 on MacOS or Windows.
I use Netflix via Chrome on Linux.
As such I don't watch too many movies. Was I paying all that money for nothing?
While on the subject — I use Chrome exclusively for Netflix. My privacy settings on Firefox — my default browser — doesn't work well with Netflix, and so I installed Chrome for the sole purpose of using Netflix.
Video quality always seemed worse than on my smartphone.
(Somebody will point out that HDCP support was added to the Linux Kernel here, but it was added for the use of the kernel on closed hardware where you can have a hardware root of trust and signed drivers, not a general purpose Linux machine.)
DRM sucks.
