Very few know or care what the policies are. The vast majority of the voters decide using the gut feeling of who's the "good guy". Hence yesteryear's politicians competing in obnoxious Bible thumping, and the equally obnoxious embrace of secular "good" causes of today.

This is one particular tax/policy, maybe it's a hasty generalization to assume everybody is against all their policies.
