Don't do it. Transfer to a different school or try to make your experience at your existing one better. It's a big risk moving to a new city without money and trying to make it work. Don't ruin your safe and stable situation.
Knowing what the average HN user is capable of, I don't think moving to SF is a huge risk in terms of survival.
There is nothing magical about a large percentage of HN's members possessing a valuable skill(ie. programming, hustling).
Also, despite being an awesome place to be, SF is expensive to live in.
Agree. But there are enough hacks around it. Dining out too expensive? Cook at home. Apartment too expensive? Commute to SF on BART or get an apartment in the Tenderloin. etc.
