Matomoto is Great and was developed with the German Privacy Law in mind. Which was already as strong as the GDPR now.

You should give the Rentenkasse an call. They are happy to tell you, if this would be Scheinselbständigkeit.
zeug··on Ask HN: Pay-What-You-Want Tech

zeug··on Ask HN: What are good hosting providers?
Hetzner and OVH should be the Same from a Network Point.

Personally I like Hetzner the most. They are dirty cheap and have a good support.

zeug··on As a business, what do you hide from your customers?
Ohhh sad, that this post dosen‘t get any upvotes.

Personally, my company is build on trust and I don’t have to lie to my customers.

But what fuck me up the most recently:

To register an ASN in the RIPE Region, you have to be a member (LIR) or find a LIE that sponsor your one.

The costs as LIR are near 0. You only have to verify your customer and get a signed contract. Let’s say you value the time at 10€.

Then you send the stuff to the RIPE via API, Mail or Ticket System.

Then your customer gets the ASN from RIPE and you, as Sponsoring LIR, are done.

Some company’s charge you 200€/yr for this (the industry median is about 90€ and 50% only want it one time.)

If you are targeting Europe, you could give Hetzner a shot. Starting at 2,50€/Month with 2GB RAM, 20GB NVMe and 1 CPU Core.

As of my knowledge, the ping isn´t that bad in the US neither.

zeug··on Ask HN: Is Your Work Meaningful?
It depends on the view.

I currently build a "VPS"-Company based on the uberspace model (PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN). Version 2 will have the ability to encrypt the hard drive and the RAM using AMDs Epic platform (SEV).

The "confidential computing" things gives my work the meaning of giving small users (1VM) the ability to hide there information. As of current knowledge the SEV feature is secure.

So hopefully it will help users to get cheap and near bare metal security for there VPS.

zeug··on Ask HN: What are examples of smaller publicly traded web companies like Etsy?
Something like Tictail?
