zeroonetwothree··on Vote on which of Hacker News' challenges for AI have been met
Moving or just different goalposts?
zeroonetwothree··on Singapore govt dating app uses Gale-Shapley stable marriage algorithm
Someone hasn’t watched High Fidelity ;)
zeroonetwothree··on California bans child marriage, a practice still legal in 32 US states
You can’t enter into other contracts until 18 so why was marriage an exception?
zeroonetwothree··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
Good point. Maybe it’s higher expected real growth from AI?
zeroonetwothree··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
You’re right. There no easy fix despite what 50% of the comments in this thread claim ;)
zeroonetwothree··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
The effective tax rate has actually not changed that much in decades, regardless the “tax cuts” (more like “tax reallocations”)
zeroonetwothree··on 10-year Treasury yield climbs above 5.3% to a level not seen in 24 years
It’s essentially impossible to balance the budget without cutting entitlements as the comment you are replying to suggests.
zeroonetwothree··on Burning Man death rates – A short lesson in statistics
The biggest factor is selection bias. If you are in the hospital with some terrible medical condition you aren’t going to Burning Man.

It would be interesting to look at cause of death at Burning Man, I would expect it to differ significantly from the population overall (even accounting for age).

zeroonetwothree··on America.gov
What are some of the examples of this “best web design and engineering on the planet”?
zeroonetwothree··on America.gov
Would you prefer it says “A peaceful protest against a stolen corrupt election”?
zeroonetwothree··on How our vibe coded website looks like a designer made it
Honestly looks better than the original
zeroonetwothree··on Livenerf: Has Opus 5.5 been nerfed yet?
If it can’t even tell apart Opus 5 and 5.5 (according to the readme) then it’s not useful
zeroonetwothree··on ChatGPT Pro 500
Corps don’t act on their own. The same people that work in corps are consumers
zeroonetwothree··on ChatGPT Pro 500
Half (or more?) of the point of writing docs is for you to understand the system better.
zeroonetwothree··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
Opus 5 scoring higher than 5.5 makes me question of the value of this benchmark to real world usage
zeroonetwothree··on How I changed teaching after AI managed to do all my homework assignments
My favorite math class I ever took had optional homework, but every exam problem was taken directly from the homework. So if you did all the homework the exams were very easy.

I imagine this would work very well in the current period since there’s no reason to use LLMs for this homework. Of course even back then many students didn’t do it and got low grades, but you have to be responsible at some point.

zeroonetwothree··on 10 Tells of a Slop UI
You forgot the small caps headings or tags added randomly everywhere.
zeroonetwothree··on Understanding the Impact of LLM Watermarking on AI Agent Behavior
It’s already mostly AI written.
zeroonetwothree··on Understanding the Impact of LLM Watermarking on AI Agent Behavior
Pangram flags it as mostly AI.
zeroonetwothree··on Tell HN: OpenAI $500 ProMax plan listed in API
Sol6 is clearly worse than 5.6. Have you tried using it? And Astra is more expensive.
zeroonetwothree··on Attention is all you have
HN is social media :)
zeroonetwothree··on Fable 5 – Median thinking declined in August
At that point I might as well do it myself
zeroonetwothree··on Fable 5 – Median thinking declined in August
Last time I estimated it was like 30 years to pay back. I doubt the hardware will even last that long.
zeroonetwothree··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
Why not “Teen Cigarette Bans Miss the Point”?

Just because compliance isn’t 100% doesn’t mean there’s no benefit. Also these things can take time to work, but we do have evidence that bans reduce usage to an extent.

zeroonetwothree··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
Gaming is much healthier than social media.
zeroonetwothree··on The American Religion of Self-Storage Facilities
Are you sure they even will want it back? Might be better to just donate it all now and save the money.
zeroonetwothree··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
You could say the same of any critique about anything.
zeroonetwothree··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
Reverse signaling
zeroonetwothree··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
Technology keeps advancing in a domain until suddenly it doesn’t. Where are my flying cars?
zeroonetwothree··on Global bond yields hit 2008 highs, raising stakes for big borrowers
Republican != conservative

:)

Also some of the numbers are very sensitive to start/end dates (remind me, did anything happen in 2020?)
