Actually there _is_ a lot to be missed about those times, in spite of all the "progress" we've made since then.
...Right?
For this reason, I think it's not true that this absolutely had to be a language feature rather than a library. A template class written in pure Python could have done the same lookup in its __init__.
But I have often wondered, if someone wants static typing, why not just use a statically typed language?
Maybe Io or REBOL fall into this category as well...? Or Logo...
Seems illegal, or at the very least a violation of OF's Terms of Service.
It's challenging to predict with certainty when AI might independently prove such a complex theorem. While AI systems can certainly assist mathematicians in exploring mathematical concepts and even discovering new theorems, the level of creativity, insight, and intuition required to solve problems like Fermat's Last Theorem is still largely within the domain of human mathematicians. However, AI may contribute indirectly by aiding in the exploration of vast mathematical spaces and providing tools for verification and validation of proofs.
As for the Camel book, what I liked about it is that it explains why Perl is the way it is... the underlying philosophy. Once you know that, it starts making a lot more sense. You usually didn't get that with books like "Learn Perl in 21 days" or something.
Although: "Since C++ is integral to gcc, djgpp no longer stands for "DJ's G++" but probably stands for something like "DJ's GNU Programming Platform"." [2]
Although it does look like it would take more than a weekend to write a compiler for it... :3
