zekehernandez··on Simplesprints: Dev team sprint metrics made simple.
Hi, currently working on a tool to help simplify sprint metrics for new or growing dev teams. It's currently under construction, but you can check out pre-alpha screenshots on the landing page. Let me know if you have any questions or comments, thanks!
zekehernandez··on Ask HN: I'm an incoming freshman to college for a CS major, what should I know?
You should know why you want a degree in CS. Because if it's solely to get a job in software development, know that it's one of the longest and most expensive ways to reach that goal, especially since you've been coding for such a long time. There are many other reasons one would want to go to college, and if they apply to you, feel free to disregard this comment. But to reiterate, if your only goal is to be a software developer, I would try to see if someone will hire you with the experience you have now, or maybe do a bootcamp of sorts.

Let me add more nuance: I'm not trying to say that a CS major won't be valuable to a software developer, or that it doesn't have advantages over a bootcamp-like thing, or just raw experience. But there are tradeoffs, and I think a lot depends on what kind of software development you want to do.

zekehernandez··on Ask HN: How much time do you spend coding outside of work per day?
If I have a project I'm working on, like a website for myself or someone else, I'll spend like 2-5 hours a week; otherwise, almost nothing outside of work.

I don't feel compelled to code outside of work just for the sake of coding, it's only if I want to make something.

zekehernandez··on Ask HN: Is there a platform for sharing ideas that people want to “give away”?
I love thinking of video game ideas, so much so that I made a website to publish the ideas in a rather fleshed out manner: http://creativeowlet.com/
zekehernandez··on Show HN: Create Interactive Coding Tutorials in Visual Studio Code
The idea sounds cool, but I'm struggling to know exactly what this does or how to use it. The descriptions on the website are very brief and kind of vague, and the screenshots are quite small. The only feature that's really clear to me is running the terminal commands. But, like I said, sounds cool, just wish I could gain more info as to what it is without having to install it and use it.
zekehernandez··on Ask HN: What is your best web browsing tips and tricks for non-developers
Utilizing custom search engines, I have a full post about it on my blog here: https://zekehernandez.com/post/omnibox/

EDIT: I just realized you had already included that in your list. I would still encourage reading what I put, because there may be some fun uses you may have not thought of before.

zekehernandez··on Show HN: (My First game) Dicentric, a fun and relaxing puzzle game for android
I haven't tried it, but I love the mechanics shown on the app store page. Will try it later!
zekehernandez··on Ask HN: Which programming language did you learn and why?
Java: taught at college. Delphi: learned it on the job for the job. C#: same as above.
zekehernandez··on Google Font Alternatives to Popular Fonts
Weird that the article says "Read part 1 first" but doesn't have a link to part 1. Or did I miss it?
zekehernandez··on Ask HN: Do you prefer markdown or a WYSIWYG editor?
I've been using Typora, which is a WYSIWYG editor that utilizes markdown. I really enjoy it for local note taking (not in the cloud) at work.

I appreciate that it's pretty to look at, and I get to use markdown.

zekehernandez··on Ask HN: What are some things in life worth their price
Wool: socks, sweaters, blankets, etc. So breathable and warm, but thin wool socks also work great in the summer! Go for merino wool if you don't like the itchiness of lambswool.
zekehernandez··on Using Jekyll and GitHub Pages
Yeah, I host my Hugo (another static site generator) site on Firebase, it's so pain free (and actually free), I can't recommend it more.
zekehernandez··on Ask HN: What are some good examples of personal websites (Software Engineers)?
I made my personal site (http://zekehernandez.com) using Hugo (a static site generator) and have it hosted for free on Firebase. It was mostly easy (for someone who has little to no experience making websites), and again, free. I think static-site generators are perfect for personal sites/blogs.
zekehernandez··on Ask HN: How often do you check your spam folder?
Basically, I only check when I haven't yet seen an email that I'm expecting. Works so far!
