yukIttEft··on Reducing Kernel-Maintainer Burnout
But now that they are heavily invested in Linux, it would be a good time to make them contribute.

I mean isn't this the exact same tactic they use with their as-a-service offerings all the time?

yukIttEft··on Reducing Kernel-Maintainer Burnout
Big tech wouldn't exist without Linux. Why aren't they forced to contribute?
yukIttEft··on How do databases execute expressions?
> because one has to provide support for both architectures

You aren't using LLVM IR then? I found that if you are a bit careful, LLVM is perfectly capable to lower IR to vector instructions in ARM/X86 automatically.

> Creating a "custom" collection of Add-Ons on addons.mozilla.org can be done using a disposable email address.

I seriously don't get it. Why do I have to create a "custom collection" with an email address to install an extension. Why can't it work like it does on PC ?

Could this also be implemented as a bashscript?
yukIttEft··on Our Universe wasn’t empty, even before the Big Bang
Reading about Big Bang, I'm wondering about this: doesn't the fact that the Big Bang happened imply that there was some kind of state-change: from Big Bang is not happening to Big Bang is happening, and any kind of state-change requires the existence of time. Doesn't this imply that time existed before the Big Bang?

yukIttEft··on GGML – AI at the Edge
Its graph execution is still full of busyloops, e.g.:

https://github.com/ggerganov/llama.cpp/blob/44f906e8537fcec9...

I wonder how much more efficient it would be when Taskflow lib was used instead, or even inteltbb.

yukIttEft··on ARM’s Cortex A53: Tiny but Important
When looking at die shots like https://i0.wp.com/chipsandcheese.com/wp-content/uploads/2023... I always wonder how people are able to label things. How does one figure out what part does what?

yukIttEft··on A whirlwind tour of the LLVM optimizer
I guess your generated code contains a lot of black boxes that the optimizer can't see through. At my work, the LLVM optimizer is doing an insane amount of optimizations.
yukIttEft··on Building a Compiler with Multi-Level Intermediate Representation (MLIR) (2020) [pdf]
Sounds very interesting. Could you explain a bit more what you did and why it was easier with MLIR?

When accessing memory, is there also microcode dealing with generating a pagefault when the address is invalid?
yukIttEft··on The ThinkPad TrackPoint tried to build a better mouse (2020)
You have no drift issues? After ~6months of using it on my new Thinkpad, it starts to drift almost immediately. Its a pity because it liked it a lot.
yukIttEft··on What Is Our Universe Expanding Into?
shortly after the bigbang, when the universe was a nonzero amount of time the size of a potato, compared to its current size, how to reconcile that with 'it doesnt expand into anything'?
yukIttEft··on GlueSQL: SQL database engine as a library
Seeing the examples, I start to wonder if it would be possible to support real sql syntax from within a rust macro, that maybe even has access to local variables like LINQ?
yukIttEft··on C++ coroutines: Understanding the compiler transform
I'm currently playing around with a Vulkan toy renderer and use coroutines for some parts and I have to say it's a perfect match: many Vulkan apis are async, they return immediately but give you an option to signal a fence that you can query from the CPU.

Without coroutines, this is where I would have to roll some callbacksmechanism or statementmachine, but with coroutines, I can simply suspend the callstack and resume once the fence is signaled.

Its very neat.

yukIttEft··on GitHub Code Search (Preview)
If you search something that is also used in a popular opensource project, github codesearch will then show the same exact hit in a zillion forks, completely drowning out the interesting hits.

Is this somehow fixed in the new codesearch?
