You can subscribe https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/pagedout-notificatio... (link from the bottom of the page https://pagedout.institute/)
yu3zhou4··on DeepSeek-v3.1-Terminus
I see no article in the link, just "news250922" header with some layout
yu3zhou4··on How to become a pure mathematician or statistician (2008)
Very inspiring story, congrats on your journey!
yu3zhou4··on Kruci: Post-mortem of a UI library
I appreciate the name, a niche Polish Internet culture meme
yu3zhou4··on GitHub hides "cyberpunk" and "cyberpunk2077" topics
You can provide any topic in URL https://github.com/topics/topic, but these particular two seem to produce 404 on purpose:

yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What will happen to Apple Silicon devices once Apple ends updates?
Around 2030 I think.

As far as I know, Asahi is the only Linux distro that is capable of running on Apple Silicon

yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
Thanks! Keeping fingers crossed for your success with this degree
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
Oh I get it now, thanks! Please let me know if you decide to enroll to math master's in OU, maybe we can help each other! I think I'll do the same on the next semester (so early 2026)
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
Thanks, that's actually useful and I will be happy to consider it once I have more spare time in life!

Why did you complete WGU masters in computer science after already having a PhD in computer science?

yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
Yeah, I wish there were more options than that. Also, remote phd or master+phd would be even better, but these are even more uncommon and pricey (unless you know about a one that is good and cheap and remote then I’d love to learn more)
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (July 2025)
I was recently looking for a master's degree in math that is:

- 100% remote

- 100% self-paced

- fairly cheap

and it looks like Open University is the best option right now? Did you find any better option?

yu3zhou4··on The rise and fall of the Hanseatic League
Same here with Gdańsk, Poland. You can see the same Hanseatic influence even in this he architecture
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (June 2025)
Thanks Pavel! For now I have no more power to go through the marketing. I am open for a collaboration with anyone who can help with that
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (June 2025)
Thinking about giving up on my speech accessibility project (https://BeUnderstoodApp.com) because once again I built the MVP but gaining customers is so draining and difficult for me that I consider moving away and focus on contributing to some major open source project instead
yu3zhou4··on Break Up Big Tech: Civil Society Declaration
Allegro is really a top notch service, they already scaled to other EU countries, I hope they will go global one day. Same for BLIK (instant payments with a numeric code) and InPost (very quick packages delivery to package machines all over the country)
yu3zhou4··on Working on databases from prison
A great read, the first part is also worth reading. I’m happy for you Preston and wishing you all the best
yu3zhou4··on Tell HN: I just made a first ever dollar on my SaaS
Yes!
yu3zhou4··on Tell HN: I just made a first ever dollar on my SaaS
Thank you
yu3zhou4··on Tell HN: I just made a first ever dollar on my SaaS
Oh definitely I won’t, it turned out I had a bug that prevented a webhook subscription data to be mapped correctly and she didn’t get an instance access to the service - I had to fix on prod, essentially. What a day
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What cool skill or project interests you, but feels out of reach?
Being able to spontaneously speak with people and slow thinking. I am ok at writing with people, because it gives me time to think and refine my message. But I really suck at live events and talking to people in real life. Did anyone overcome it? And how?
yu3zhou4··on Building supercomputers for autocrats probably isn't good for democracy
Can you share more about it?
yu3zhou4··on DiffX – Next-Generation Extensible Diff Format
I got me xkcd 927 vibe somehow https://xkcd.com/927/
yu3zhou4··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
Thx Nate, Rust will probably save you a ton of headache with things like index arithmetic on memory, just today I wrangled with my wrong accessing to weights and biases, but I guess to squeeze performance once would need to use some unsafe {}?

Low-level deep learning library from scratch in C, without external dependencies, while not knowing C well yet https://github.com/jmaczan/curiosity
yu3zhou4··on An online exhibition of pretty software bugs
Reminds me of lcamtuf's exhibition of unusual TCP packets or something like that
yu3zhou4··on Show HN: Plexe – ML Models from a Prompt
Nice execution! I built a simpler version of it a year ago https://github.com/jmaczan/csv-to-ml I hope you succeed with the product and push the automl forward
yu3zhou4··on I maintain a 17 year old ThinkPad
Respect! I still run x230 with Linux for fun and so my kids can smash the keys on the keyboard (btw imho the keyboard feeling is better than in any laptop I used since then) and they feel good about themselves that they do the same thing as dad
yu3zhou4··on Paged Out #6 [pdf]
That is a reasonable tradeoff for sure. I’m still thinking what could we do to improve readibility on mobile devices though
yu3zhou4··on Paged Out #6 [pdf]
Agreed! If we went full latex, it could be make a two way like arxiv recently did with html5 rendering of latex

Gyn, Aga and reviewers like Xusheng and others do really a great job! They are responsive, helpful and pleasant to work with. If you think about writing a piece, it’s definitely worth your time
