ypeterholmes··on Pens Are Making a High-Tech Comeback
Mistaken premise here in my opinion:

Think about typing the character ‘a’ on a keyboard. Fast, right? Just the one keystroke. “It is fast,” Bathiche says, “if you make some certain assumptions. That the position of the letter ‘a’ is where you intended it to be, the font is the way you intended it to be, the size of the ‘a’ is what you intended it to be.” All those decisions are made before you hit the key, and you often don’t have a choice. “But with ink, you can dictate all those things, almost simultaneously as you’re writing. I can put my ‘a’ here, or here, and I can make it as big as I want, as hard as I want.”

I can type wayyy faster than I can write with a pen.

So... yeah

ypeterholmes··on 'Silicon Valley Is Coming' Warns JP Morgan CEO
Is your comment intentionally dripping in irony? The government ceded their control over the financial system long ago. Ask yourself, how many senators and congressman handle strictly financial matters? Ask yourself, who primarily earns interest on all the loans people take out? Ask yourself, why was the federal income tax prohibited in the original constitution?

ypeterholmes··on Telomere extension turns back aging clock in cultured human cells, study finds
People will continue dying, but young in their 100s, or in their 20s like today

Not for long. Years from now living without a backup of yourself will be as abhorrent as currently operating a database with no backup.

ypeterholmes··on Map the Banks
I agree. The real benefit here will be a more coherent and digestible understanding these entities and their relationships, such that other actions can build off it. Using this data itself to litigate is a non-starter.
ypeterholmes··on Steve Wozniak remembers the early days [video]
Videos suck like that. What could have been one sentence becomes a whole multi-media, ad infested clustersuck.
ypeterholmes··on Basic Income is Practical Today, Necessary Soon
> I personally don't trust my government (US) to implement this properly without any special niches carved out for someone.

This is already the case. Except this solution eliminates a lot of the existing opportunities for corruption by generally simplifying the model.

> There will absolutely be people who abuse the system and use this money to not cover their required expenses and use it for a variety of things they don't need.

It's a thousand bucks- pretty hard to live large on 1k. Besides, comparing the issue of poor people abusing handouts to corporate welfare is molehills to mountains. If your concern is abuse having a detrimental impact on the society as a whole, don't look at poor people.

ypeterholmes··on Evernote, the bug-ridden elephant
I had to go find the original version of skitch, built by a different company, because of how badly the Evernote team massacred it. They just seem like a company more interested in high level bullshit than actual user experience.

Thank you
ypeterholmes··on What the Fluck
Excellent link. I've seen it before but on second look should definitely include in the essay.

As to whether this global power structure is deliberate or emergent, I think my essay makes it quite clear that it's the former. Looking only at the link you provided, I can see how one might ask that question. But after examining the origins of the globalist power and the synchronicity of their operations, making the emergent argument gets pretty difficult.

"we need a new journalism to explain what is really going on."

I think I've summed it up nicely in my essay the monopoly: http://www.lettersfrompeter.com/the-monopoly/

Picks up right where he leaves off.

ypeterholmes··on Today I Deleted My LinkedIn Account; You Probably Should Too
Don't see much here. For many people LinkedIn is a good way to connect with other professionals, and you can always change your email settings. I'll need a better reason to delete it. This article just seems like someone who never saw the value in something deciding to get rid of it.
ypeterholmes··on “Why did you shoot me? I was reading a book”
Excellent article but it fails to ask the question why. Why is this happening? Who benefits? Why isn't the people's will being realized politically? Why do the courts no longer protect our Constitutional rights?

There's a critical piece missing in these discussions- the global banking cartel that has corrupted all of our political and social institutions. Until their agenda and activities are included in the scope of our analysis, things will just keep getting worse.

ypeterholmes··on Margins on website development are shrinking
So you're either severely constrained by a cookie cutter CMS, or completely overwhelmed by a more flexible platform like Drupal. Ultimately I'm not hearing anything convincing about why web development has become obsolete.

ypeterholmes··on A letter to the TEDx community on TEDx and bad science
"Marks of bad science: Has failed to convince many mainstream scientists of its truth"

This is wrong. From Copernicus to Einstein to many others, agreeing with the "mainstream" has very little to do with science.

ypeterholmes··on Syte: Simple but powerful packaged personal site
The aesthetics are nice but from a usability standpoint having the navigation as a mix of external links and syte navigation seems like a poor choice.
