yla92··on Why my print didn't output before a segmentation fault
I did not know this. Thank you. Updated my blog post!
yla92··on Ask HN: Programming Courses for Experienced Coders?
Have taken two of his courses (Compiler and SICP) and highly recommend them. The only thing that is stopping me from taking more is I live at the other end of the world and have to stay awake the whole night for 5 days.
yla92··on x86-64 Assembly Language Programming with Ubuntu (2022)
This is great. Thanks for sharing!
yla92··on Tell HN: Open.spotify.com Is Down
Seeing the same thing here as well. Looks like Istio/Envoy error messages.
yla92··on Ask HN: Best Tech Courses/Certifications Under $400 for a Back End Engineer?
I took the same course around towards the end of 2021. David provided examples and I found that he hit a good balance of "I will let you figure out yourself based on these" vs "let me explain you guys what it's about".

I struggled a bit at the last few days, partially because I was taking the course from the other side of the world (i.e had to stay awake all nights for the course, five days).

However, most of us at least managed the "Function" part. The LLVM and WASM parts, I just watch what David did and didn't attempt them myself.

I also took the SICP course, which I found it to be a better "bang for the bucks". Either way, I have no regret about taking David's courses.

Things that I recommend to my team when it comes to learning funds like this (aside from what else have been recommended)

- JetBrains IDE (personal) https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/buy/?section=personal&billing... - All Products US $289.00

- Courses from https://www.educative.io/explore

- Coursera Plus https://www.coursera.org/courseraplus

yla92··on The Internals of Deno
Oh this is neat!

Coincidentally, I was reading up about Node.js event loops and end up reading about Deno as well on the following talk/slides.

- Deno internals - how modern runtime is built https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Yz1At5UM0tzdgRZr1qRv...

- The talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOvg_GbnsbA&t=2113s

I know Bun is still new but would love to read up something similar as well. For now, I am just diving straight into Bun source code and trying to read up.

yla92··on My network home setup v4.5
OP: Submitted URL has "/" at the end and it's throwing 404
yla92··on AWS IPv4 Estate Now Worth $4.5B
Some noob questions here.

How does one buy a block of IPv4 as an individual? (If that's allowed)

After you purchase it, how does it come into your possession?

How do you utilize them?

yla92··on Gcsfuse: A user-space file system for interacting with Google Cloud Storage
There is s3fs-fuse as well for AWS S3. https://github.com/s3fs-fuse/s3fs-fuse

It even supports GCS (as GCS has S3 compatible API)

yla92··on Glove80 Ergonomic Keyboard
I went through the similar journey with Moonlander. Took me about 3/4 months to be comfortable, with tweaking the layout quite a few times.

I did have some struggling with normal layout after. It sounds silly but after typing almost everyday on monkeytype.com, things (wpm, accuracy, etc) are stable for me.

yla92··on WD refused to answer our questions about its self-wiping SanDisk SSDs
What are other good options ?
yla92··on Ask HN: Any interesting books you have read lately?
Yep! I am reading the book 2 and so far so good!
yla92··on Ask HN: Any interesting books you have read lately?
Finished reading The Three-Body Problem (Book 1) and it's such a fascinating read!

yla92··on Exploring the Internals of Linux v0.01
While I was reading Julia Evan's "Behind "Hello World"[0] on Linux, I had some fun digging up the zsh[1] source code. Granted, I needed some help from Cody AI[2] and even wrote some notes from my learning https://blog.yelinaung.com/posts/behind-hello-world-on-linux...

yla92··on Ask HN: What is the most exciting thing you have learnt this year till now?
I recently learned about the (Linux) sockets. Wrote two simple "echo client" and "echo server". Then monitored the traffic over Wireshark and witness the 3 way TCP handshake. Then make the server to use "selectors" and learned a bit more about the names I have been hearing for a while: 'select', 'poll', 'epoll'.

This is when things start to "click" for me.

Nothing astounding but these little things got me excited!

PS: Too excited that I even made a presentation to share with people from work. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LAdJ4iK-RJVxuIo61RLU...

yla92··on The way out of burnout (2016)
I am feeling all the things you describe as well. Like you, I am also looking out but damn, the tech market is pretty grim, at least at where I am right now.
yla92··on Zig 0.11
The Async/Await didn't make it into this release[0] but hopefully by the next one!

yla92··on ASUS to manufacture and sell Intel’s NUC products
+1 for BeeLink stuff. I was surprised how tiny they were and yet still powerful!
yla92··on Kubernetes SidecarContainers feature is merged
A very welcome change. It's gonna be helpful for the case where the database proxy (CloudSQL) and the main container got terminated out of order.

yla92··on GitHub Pull Requests Incident
Yeah it's affecting us: the PR is already approved but when I merge and push, it's saying it's not approved.
yla92··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
I haven't been writing much but mine is at https://blog.yelinaung.com!
yla92··on Launch HN: Fastgen (YC W23) – Visual Low-Code Backend Builder

yla92··on Rust has been forked to the Crab Language
All this reminds me of node.js vs io.js
yla92··on Oxidizing OCaml: Locality
I have not been listening to them in the past but stumbled upon this episode "Multicast and the Markets" and I feel this has a lot of stuff about hardware and network than the software. Highly recommend to check it out.

yla92··on Pynecone – Performant, customizable web apps in pure Python
Looks awesome! Is there a document to learn more about how it works really work under the hood ? I took a look at the source code but have yet to dive deep yet.
yla92··on Google Cloud Europe service disruption
For some reasons that might be related to the 2nd issue, even though it says resolved, I am still seeing network errors in GKE nodes, located in Singapore (asia-southeast1)

Warning FailedToCreateRoute 4m59s route_controller Could not create route fc61a148-b428-43fa-xxxx-xxxx 10.28.167.0/24 for node gke-xxx-xxx after 16.320065487s: googleapi: Error 503: INTERNAL_ERROR - Internal error. Please try again or contact Google Support.
Any facing something similar?
