yitchelle··on HackEurope 2026: A short rant on AI and hackathons
If a break through product comes out of a hackathon, that would be amazing. As far as I can see it after participating in a few of them, I think a hackathon is more than that. There social aspect of it is important, including the motivation and the inspiration of the community.
yitchelle··on HackEurope 2026: A short rant on AI and hackathons
On the other hand, if AI enables ideas like wildfire prediction to the come into the public's view, it should be encouraged, right? imho, its seems to be the right app to have won.
yitchelle··on Turbo Pascal on CP/M, MSX-DOS and MS-DOS
Turbo Pascal's IDE was my first glimpse into debugging beyond strategically place print statements. It was a game changer. Imagine single stepping through your code and inspecting your variables!

yitchelle··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
Subscription is not strictly tied to temporal events, but it is definitely a popular configuration.
yitchelle··on Show HN: Tamron Lens Utility Alternative on Linux
Plenty lens manufacturers from China have a small USB port either in on the lens itself or its cap. Mostly of updating its software.

Here is a good example of what it can do for the Kase lens.

yitchelle··on In the Shadow of the (Berlin) Wall
The Berlin Wall was built right outside The Neumanns‘ apartment overnight. They lived on its shadow and survived to see it fall. Herbert Neumann documented it all (illegally) on camera. Interview by Thalia Gigerenzer.
yitchelle··on Show HN: Write.md – A free, open-source, themeable Markdown editor for macOS
Are markdown editors the new todo list app?

There so many of them published, and probably thousands more that are someone's introduction to coding and just sitting is a github rotting away.

yitchelle··on Reviving a four year old reMarkable 2
I always thought that the reMarkable ecosystem was tightly locked in, forcing your to have an ongoing subscription to do anything useful with it. It seems not to be. Has anyone setup an ecosystem that is not tied to a reMarkable subscription? The hardware itself is super cool.
yitchelle··on Launch HN: ProvenMetal (YC S26) delivers circuit boards in days instead of weeks

yitchelle··on Launch HN: ProvenMetal (YC S26) delivers circuit boards in days instead of weeks
Low utilisation would be a good thing as they would value availability to the line very highly.
yitchelle··on Helsinki Hacker News Meetup
I am in if it one is running. email in bio if you want to reach out to coordinate.
yitchelle··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
If a content is making a positive impact on your life, your mental health, your family's well being, your general outlook, your future, would it matter if is from AI or from human?
yitchelle··on That time when I failed the Microsoft interview
Jeez, the text in the rejection letter is the same today as it was back in 2015!
yitchelle··on More German than many Germans
Shop free Sunday is something to be protected. I visited my parents in Australia about two years back where shopping feels like a 24/s7 blood sport, relaxing on a Sunday to do non-shopping activities is really welcoming.
yitchelle··on Show HN: I'm a 15 Year Old Wannabe Engineer, This Is a Cycloidal Gearbox I Built
Congrats! You are not a wannabe engineer, you are an engineer.

If you have the motivation to chase your passion to build these machines, you are already an engineer. Keep going!

yitchelle··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (July 2026)
I am building an newsletter for Short Science Fiction, using news stories of the day as inspiration. Purposely limiting the length to 3 chapters.

yitchelle··on Repairable Flatpack Toaster
While not discrediting your observation, what would be an example that could be investigated by a small team?

I was thinking about an electronic toothbrush, or a kettle?

yitchelle··on European word translator: an interactive map
I typed in "nazi". Only UK has the word appear over it.
yitchelle··on Show HN: I made a site to tell the time in corporate
Based on previous discussions during a review with higher ups, there need to be some options as to how the week numbers are counted. Can you action that by KW10.3 and report back. I will create a JIRA ticket for tracking. Many thanks for your support.

yitchelle··on A star system 3,000 light-years away is predicted to become visible soon
Surely these are occurring very frequently as there are trillions of stars out there. I imagine that space is so vast that the vastness makes these events difficult to observe. Am I wrong with this thought?
yitchelle··on Ask HN: What's the best way to exit tech?
A trend among my older colleagues was to teach at high schools in science and maths subjects. They seem to enjoy it very much.
