yibers··on Beware Management Consultants
You are afraid to tell the time to other people, as the time is unpopular. So you hire someone to do it for you.
yibers··on --dangerously-skip-reading-code
We already switched
yibers··on Open Source Isn't Dead. Cal.com Just Learned the Wrong Lesson
Ironically, given the recent supply chain attacks, that may be also more secure.
yibers··on France to ditch Windows for Linux to reduce reliance on US tech
How does XFCE compare to KDE and GNOME? Also, does it has all the nice window snapping features that I'm used to fron Windows?
yibers··on France to ditch Windows for Linux to reduce reliance on US tech
I am saying this as a very long time Windows user, and it saddens me. Politics aside, from a pure technichal, functional, privacy and UX perspective, the case for changing over from Windows to Linux is getting stronger by the day.
yibers··on A case against currying
I'm actually fascinated by what you wrote. Why was it a dark time?
yibers··on Ask HN: Are the newest LLMs better than you at programming?
I have plenty of domain experience but I won't define myself as an expert. It helped me solve real business problems.
yibers··on Ask HN: Are the newest LLMs better than you at programming?
Opus 4.6 (high) is doing for me things that i don't know to do myself. Moreover, I don't understand enough what it did after it did it. But it works. The domain is automated debugging and RE.
yibers··on Nvidia NemoClaw
We are in the middle of a gold rush. Nvidia makes the shovels.
yibers··on Windows 11 after two decades of macOS: okay, but also awful
It is my understanding that actually for Mac one is "forced" to install many 3rd party tools to get features that in Windows are considered basic, for example window auto snapping.
yibers··on You deleted everything and AWS is still charging you?
No way this is being written seriously, is it?
yibers··on Tested: How Many Times Can a DVD±RW Be Rewritten? Methodology and Results
The DVD+RW actually used pencil and eraser technology instead. It was a surprisingly robust method.
yibers··on Tinnitus Is Connected to Sleep
That story about your Otolaryngologist is insane. It's sad how many times doctors don't really listen to their patients and throw out there generic advice that is harmful.
yibers··on Nintendo Sues U.S. Government for Tariff Refunds
So hold on. The US taxpayer first paid the tariffs themselves. Next he has to pay compensation for the tariffs he himself paid?
yibers··on I dropped our production database and now pay 10% more for AWS
Having customers delete all their data by mistake and then trying to recover it happens more often then you think. It has become common practice to soft delete at first. Usually 30 days later a hard delete is performed.
yibers··on Firefox 148 Launches with AI Kill Switch Feature and More Enhancements
Step 1: Launch AI features Step 2: Launch AI features kill switch Step 3: ???? Step 4: Profit?
yibers··on [dead]
I visited the link, there is no data there.
yibers··on Why is Claude an Electron app?
Look at their backlog...
yibers··on Ghidra by NSA
Can anyone provide their opinion of Ghidra vs Ida? Is Ida worth the extra money?
yibers··on I want to wash my car. The car wash is 50 meters away. Should I walk or drive?
It turns out the Turing test is alive and kicking, after all.
yibers··on How I made $2.5K in 4 days selling a SaaS boilerplate for OpenClaw wrappers
What's the advantage of using your paid service vs. just having Claude Code build it for me?
yibers··on What a Diff a VS Code Fork Makes: Antigravity, Cursor and Windsurf Compared
I'm a bit confused by the comparison between Windsurf and Antigravity. I thought Google got involved with Windsurf, and now Antigravity is essentially the next version of Windsurf.
yibers··on Guest Post from an Iranian
You seem be be dehumanizing your enemies yourself...
yibers··on 'It's ridiculous': publicans bemused by rise of single-file queues to get served
My hypothesis is that it's due to phones. Waiting in a single row queue became much less painless so the younger ones prefer even to be on the phone and wait in line. Actually, the more chaotic types of "lines" make it more difficult to just be on the phone while waiting.
yibers··on ChatGPT Containers can now run bash, pip/npm install packages and download files
I hope that AVs will also evolve using the new AI tech to detect this type of malware.
yibers··on AI Tribalism
We did the same as devopers before Claude. We would copy paste from stack overflow. Now this process is heavily automated.
yibers··on Is Northern Virginia still the least reliable AWS region?
Ass covering-wise, you are probably better off going down with everyone else on us-east-1. The not so fun alternative: being targeted during an RCA explaining why you chose some random zone no one ever heard of.
yibers··on Postponed '60 Minutes' segment on Salvadoran prison is streamed by Canadian news
I am in the same boat as you. I believe it's mainly a Streisand effect
yibers··on Adversarial poetry as a universal single-turn jailbreak mechanism in LLMs
This reminded me of Key&Peele classic: https://youtu.be/14WE3A0PwVs?si=0UCePUnJ2ZPPlifv
yibers··on Typed languages are better suited for vibecoding
I agree that the training sets for LLMs have much more training data for Python than for Rust. But C++ has existed before Python I believe. So I doubt there is 2 orders of magnitude of Python code more than C++.
