The country that gave me millions sucks.
You are not MEANT to have ultimate decision making over anything, thats why you are a cog, in a machine, making 500k$ per year. and you get to complain about it from your mansion SECOND house in arizona, while transiting from palo alto first mansion.
Now, I just saw, no idea how I missed it, Space Truckers from 1996, with Dennis Hopper! I never would have pegged him to do a movie like that. Its 1000% worth seeing for its sheer nuttery.

Its top of my list of most ridiculous movies.
They were less dark and dismal like shows such as The Expanse, and more forward looking and positive, while still having 'cataclysmic events to be overcome'
They were interesting to watch.
On a side note a lot of western futuristic scifi in the last 20 years has future, eg +100 years, languages consisting of pidgin of english, chinese, primarily with smatterings of french and german.
Its why its literally everywhere on the internet/news now
I switched from weather.com to accuweather.com years ago when everything on weather.com became
10 PEOPLE DIE IN EXTREME HEAT IN LOUISIANA
plastered all over the place
now accuweather.com is starting to resemble the same
I will probably end up at just weather.gov, which is less featurefilled, but at least is not covered in FUD
"Some serious :fist: :eggplant: vibes"
mean?
I for one, do not believe that a bunch of twats in silicon valley give a crap about ethics, do you?
This was an unauthorized, unguided, unethical, mass psychological experiment on human beings. Anyone involved should have gone to jail for crimes against humanity.

Whereas previously people were not so hyperpartisan-ized by social media, they are now. You could have a debate on various topics with your neighbors and friends, but now its two camps. Disagree with me? You are a nazi, or a communist.
Point still stands it was pretty common the past fifty years at least, just occurred in backrooms and editorial boards.
Plenty of examples of this.
NYT might as well have had the snowden leak information as far back as 2004 I believe it was, but they withheld it.
If the game is called out and you still hold the cards, why not just be frank about it, like they are doing now.
There are numerous examples, just from the last 20 years, even excluding the last few years, where journalists have willingly silenced opposition, or even refused, with the consent of their own editors or even at editors behest, to not write or report on certain stories.
Then that begs the question, once you go back past 20 years you find more, fairly regular, examples of this behavior, which obviously comes with the silencing or exclusion of journalists who buck the cart, and their subsequent blackballing from the industry.
Unattributed quote "History is written by the victors" comes to mind. How would you know if you have not always been at war with Eastasia, thats what the journalists have said for decades, and the microfiche from their reporting in 1980s is missing (hyperbole).
can you do them high available, low latency, cross region redundancy, and restore both ways with near zero data loss?
well, sure, theres this button on the emc console I push and..

People have been warning about this exact problem for ten years, and even predicted the problematic outcomes. Albeit, the problems that would generate from it SEEM pretty obvious in retrospect now.
Social media sites that 'make it' are beholden to advertisers who want to spend money on the platform, and Disney does not want to advertise on a platform that also permits any extremism of any kind.
Then, any upstart social media that comes along, faces summary execution, because a lot of rich and powerful people now face the possibility of losing their gravy train.
Hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake in this arena.
Big money $$ always wins in the end.
Edit: of course this greatly simplifies a complex system and problem, but rereading it reminded me of this unattributed quote.
“Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it.”
Human societies are cyclical, repeatable, and to some degree, predictable.
At least 75,000,000 people think one way. Deny them the right to speak openly and what might you have?
I gather, as a late night estimate, 75,000,000 people talking to about another 55,000,000 people why they are right.
And you want to force them all into darkness, unable to engage in the political discussion.
Madness. Absolute Madness.
What kept 'regular people' from hopping onto a widely derided and supposedly extremist platform, where threats of exposure of ones personal life simply for being there stopped them from noticing extremism?
Are you sure that is a good argument?
Firstly, almost no average FB or TW user knows of those forums, let alone the ones that do being willing to also 'go there' given all the stigma.
My point still is, if you force these people into places like that, where their plans are easily observable, and 99% of people wont go there then it will fester in silence.
Whereas the other potential is..sunlight. Let them say their statements in the sunlight, rather than ban them.
1. Family or friends will banter them down
2. Friends of friends will bring them to center rather than extreme (on EITHER side)
3. its one place rather than 35 distinct forums for LEO to follow.
