ycombinatrix··on 192GB Framework Desktop open for pre-order
What was the laptop debacle? I know people were upset over sponsoring DHH.
ycombinatrix··on Ask HN: Email leaked while traveling abroad?
Doesn't explain why the email was in German.
ycombinatrix··on Raspberry Pi blocks changing RAM chips
like what Android shows when the bootloader is unlocked
ycombinatrix··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
How did it become sluggish?
ycombinatrix··on IPFS Maintainers Winding Down
developers, not end users
ycombinatrix··on Firefox is now the last major browser that still supports uBlock Origin
>Anyone can build a custom extension to do anything an extension is allowed to do

Yes, that's why google moved to manifest v3 and extensions can't do as much.

ycombinatrix··on Someone is running mass vulnerability scans, spoofing AI bots like ClaudeBot
run a redlib instance, bots hit these hard: https://github.com/redlib-org/redlib
ycombinatrix··on Cops Used Flock to Track a Man Across State Lines for a Pretextual Weed Search
No, I saw you take the $5. Good luck convincing the police you didn't.
ycombinatrix··on Web Scraper Bright Data Sets $1M 'Bug Bounty' as Industry Scrutinized

ycombinatrix··on Show HN: Fonts.Free
Nice. I like the submission page too, adding fonts to Google Fonts is a nightmare.
ycombinatrix··on Kim Dotcom Loses Court of Appeal Bid to Block Extradition to the U.S.
This whole saga has been insane. New Zealand is a vassal state.
ycombinatrix··on All phones sold in the EU to have replaceable batteries from 2027
one step at a time
ycombinatrix··on Hyperlinks in terminal emulators
Not true. At the very least it can leak your IP address. There's a reason whatsapp & other messaging services have an internal proxy for generating web previews.
ycombinatrix··on UUID package coming to Go standard library
especially when they don't depend on libc.
ycombinatrix··on Remotely unlocking an encrypted hard disk
I meant "just use dm-verity" as in "don't do full disk encryption"...
ycombinatrix··on Remotely unlocking an encrypted hard disk
FYI your decryption key can be MITMed during this process by anyone with physical access to the system, which defeats the purpose of encrypting the disk in the first place.

Just use dm-verity for remote servers.

ycombinatrix··on Emails to Outlook.com rejected due to a fault or overzealous blocking rules
How is it not a disguise? It means you can't block marketing emails without also blocking the legitimate support emails.
ycombinatrix··on Show HN: Free Browser-Based Tools Client Side Only, No Uploads, No Tracking
How does a DNS lookup work "client side only"?
ycombinatrix··on Ask HN: Who Is Using XMPP?
>Doesn't Discord require every user to create a new account, even if they're already using Discord in some other community?

No, the same account is used. You get prompted to choose a nickname each time you join a server though.

>So when they say "a Discord server", they really mean it--they're like droplets running independent deployments or whatever

No, they're probably all run on the same compute. The "official" name for a discord server from the API documentation is actually a "discord guild" and it works pretty much like a subreddit.

[flagged]
ycombinatrix··on Why the KeePass format should be based on SQLite
I see, thanks. Have you considered moving to Bitwarden?
ycombinatrix··on IDF killed Gaza aid workers at point blank range in 2025 massacre: Report
I think GP was making a joke - since zionists claim any anti-zionist behavior is anti-semitic.
ycombinatrix··on Why the KeePass format should be based on SQLite
>Important to note is that every time a KDBX file is updated, no matter how small the edit was, the entire file gets rewritten.

This seems like an implementation issue rather than a format/spec issue.

ycombinatrix··on IDF killed Gaza aid workers at point blank range in 2025 massacre: Report
This is most certainly not something that is covered on TV news. Seems on topic to me.
ycombinatrix··on AI uBlock Blacklist
If the website is not AI slop, presumably they would remove it from the list.

ycombinatrix··on Harrier: A high-performance Rust hashmap using SIMD-accelerated cuckoo hashing
Have you considered no_std support?
ycombinatrix··on The Economics of a Super Bowl Ad
Sorry, I didn't realize we weren't supposed to be having sex.
ycombinatrix··on Show HN: Sameshi – a ~1200 Elo chess engine that fits within 2KB
Hmm, I don't quite follow. For usages like counters or version numbers, it seems like allowing negatives makes things more complicated rather than less.

Like, what if you're getting a u32 over the wire? I feel like using an i32 to represent that data makes it more error-prone. Numbers will unexpectedly appear to be negative?

How come there's no unsigned numeric types in Bau?
