Bluesky implements algorithmic feeds so content is easier to find. Mastodon mostly is original Twitter model - you have to follow accounts yourself. It's significant friction and filters 90% of normal people.
I don't see how this characterization is wrong as a shorthand. Until HP comes up with an update, these printers don't print. If they never do, then it is literally true. There was a home router manufacturer that issued a firmware update that permanently disabled their product, users had to physically exchange them.
I think another tier needs to be added to the Maslow pyramid for this particular class of complaint. I have had to reboot the M4 Mini on my desk a number of times now and it takes less than 3 seconds to lift the corner an inch and depress the switch.
Doesn't seem to be available in US right now; apparently Micro Center used to carry them, they're still listed, but out of stock. Pity, looks like a perfect basic bitch monochrome printer.
It's more likely so these could be used with a pick and place machine. They're obviously lytics if you look at the ends. I don't know why everything has to be a conspiracy these days.
LibreWolf is opt in and if you click the checkbox named "Firefox Sync" thinking you're getting some kind of sync that isn't Firefox Sync I don't think there's any UI change that can help you.
Same thing with my octogenarian grandmother, her fingertips are often so dry the screen does not register the touch; she has arthritis and poor vision so hand-eye targeting is poor with the tiny touch areas many apps have even on a tablet; the lack of any tactile feedback exacerbates these issues, people this age didn't grow up with capacitive touch screens and the lack of sensation after an action is alien to them. She finds the iPad extremely frustrating.
What I found more surprising is that voice control isn't the solution, either. She is very reluctant to talk to Siri because it feels to her like there is an actual person there and she doesn't want to bother them. It would actually be better for her if you could choose a more robotic voice for Siri to make it seem more like a machine.
Not looking forward to getting older and having to interact with the brave new world that Big Tech will be bringing us. With some manufacturers you can't even drive a car without using a touchscreen -_-
At any large commercial organization, you either represent capital or you do not. If you are not part of the ownership class, you are entirely disposable - whether or not you are in actuality critical to the business functioning. There are many situations in which the financial incentives of ownership are directly opposed to those of the hired help. Took me a long time to realize this because most people aren't sociopaths, while corporate management and certainly the super wealthy have a significant proportion.
If you believe that humans creating a system that could develop self-awareness is a meaningless game, then yeah, it's all just semantics I guess. By this standard human consciousness is meaningless as well, if all behavior is just a kind of elaborate pre-programming then human beings have no agency either.
I have a Quadra 700 of this vintage that hasn't been powered up in 25+ years. Kind of wanted to fire it up again to experience the glory of A/UX one more time, but sounds like I'd have to replace all the lytics :/
I guess it's what you're used to and how large your hands are. For me, I've use it since it came out and prefer it to any other mouse, once you get used to the touch top surface using mechanical button/wheel seems archaic. It's also a lot easier to keep clean without a scroll wheel.
That said, the change to the rechargeable version was a huge unforced error apart from the deserved mocking for the charge port location because the mouse also reports low batt condition about 10 minutes before it actually dies, I don't know what the thinking there was.
Amazing achievement, but also reminds me that what NASA and its contractors accomplished during the 1960s still stands with current day systems engineering.
The 3rd Saturn V launch put three men into orbit around the Moon. The 6th landed two of them there.
Vivaldi team does not respond to any comments asking about ongoing v2 manifest support; safe to assume it's gone as soon as it's out of Chromium upstream. Given Tetzchner's continual messaging on how important user privacy is to Vivaldi it seems like a strange decision, but I don't know how much effort would be required to maintain the support. They're a small team, so it would be understandable if they would just say it's too hard, but instead they have avoided the topic entirely, which suggests they agree with the direction.
Didn't even think of that, I'm sure somebody has already had the idea of monetizing that, you could harvest the voices of millions of people and once that happens it will be on the dark web in the next breach and facilitate massive bank fraud.
My microwave is a 1993 Panasonic. It sat in a basement for about 10 of the intervening years, but has been a daily driver for the last 6-7. Comparing it to current retail units, it's remarkable how little has changed in that time.
If the crew publicly suggest they would rather not join their Columbia forebears on the list of incinerated spacefaring heroes their careers at NASA (and opportunities afterward at Boeing or another contractor) would be over. And until the engineering decision is made there is no need to take that risk now.
Most of the HN crowd is the long tail. The vast majority will continue to use whatever mass surveillance/monetization platform their friends use and so news outlets, government bodies, etc. will continue to post on that platform. You can either throw in the towel and join the masses or continue to use technical means of circumvention to access information there when necessary.
