yayitscaroline··on Carnegie Mellon’s Mayhem AI Wins DARPA’s Cyber Grand Challenge
It's funny that Brumley's first-place-winning robot CTF team is going to be competing against his first-place-winning human CTF team at DEFCON.

The DARPA team is headed up by professor David Brumley. He also leads the Carnegie Mellon CTF hacker group PPP (Plaid Parliament of Pwning) that often wins at DEFCON's CTFs. This article mentioned that the Mayhem robot is going to be battling the human CTF players at DEFCON. I wonder who he'll be rooting for.

yayitscaroline··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (August 2016)
Hey, I'm highly enthusiastic about what Magic Leap is doing, and I'm looking for an internship next summer. I've been following the company quite closely, I actually reached out to the team via email (info@magicleap.com I think) about a month back because I didn't see a spot for internship applications, but didn't hear back.

I'm currently interning at Apple. I'm passionate about prototyping for cameras as an AR platform, and the opportunity to pursue those ideas taken to the next level with Magic Leap would be incredible. I'm particularly interested in rapid prototyping, software engineering, and UX.

Ah, this makes sense. Do you know how the "chopping it up into AC"works?

I was wondering this too, I've never heard of a DC transformer. I thought AC-DC conversion circuits stepped down the voltage with a transformer prior to sending them through the full wave rectifier?
