All this time and money and not a single killer app. crypto needs to die already.
You should have joined a gym. I took a year off and one of my big goals was training muay Thai. A coworker dedicated every hour of his sabbatical to jujitsu.
Not only am I healthier than ever before, the friends I made are better than any techies I have ever met. Real people living and enjoying life, unlike half the comments here talking about how they miss the cult of productivity and how retirement will be affected. We all literally make 4x what a teacher or city worker make.
I had a 19yr old cousin tell me that she almost uses TikTok exclusively for tutorials and when I pushed back and said why/how the other teens in the family heavily agreed. I’ve since asked ~5 gen z (I don’t interact with many!) and they told me the same.
But with an open mind I read the section you called out and I have several issues.
The first is that the report doesn’t actually discuss or show the numbers. The country reporting only talks about inflation in those countries and percentage of transactions, how much volume and coins are these countries actually moving?
They have the stats, but know it’s all wash trading. Funny how ‘wash trading’ or even ‘money laundering’ doesn’t even make it I to the report. Really makes the branding of building trust in blockchains laughable.
Second this report is very outdated.
This is seen in the Mexico section; it talks about inflation numbers and the potential for remittances. It even mentions coinbase’s program which was shutdown in sept 22 for lack of usage (as in a couple hundred bucks a week).

Paris Hilton and jimmy fallon were shilling bored apes on late night tv. Kim kardashian and Floyd Maywether promoted crypto scams. Tom Brady was a big FTX promoter and investor. There were like 4 formula one teams named after shitcoins.
Those names are some of the most famous in the world across a number of demographics. Mass media already pushed the crypto scams on the world. There is no one left to push the ponzi onto.
This is literally what chatgpt does. No fluff just facts. I can even add ‘be concise’.
I personally think crypto transactions are a dead use case. El Salvador recently released numbers that said crypto remittances were in the 1% range in 2022, despite all the hype. Coinbase actually shutdown there remittances product after a couple of years and a couple of thousands of transactions.
The people don’t want it.
I now type “write an email that says it was was nice meeting and getting to know the team. Send me the scope docs which I’ll fill out and return. Let’s schedule a status in two weeks”
It gives me a great email which I proofread and send in less than 2mins.
Ava Labs is the company, Avalanche is the blockchain, Avax is the token.

They launched a series A in 2019. The Series A was $6million and was joined by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Initialized Capital and Polychain Capital, in addition to angel investments from Balaji Srinivasan and Naval Ravikant.
Two private token sale in June and July 2020 for $12m and $42m. Are the VC’s and insiders getting a cut?
Then finally a public ICO in sept 2020 to raise $240 million.
They also had a funding round of $350million in April 22.
Ample time for early VC’s to make money. It’s valuation is $5billion. That’s the same as Coinbase which is a legit org with billions in revenue.
From the link, this was taken from an internal hackathon earlier in the year before the further crypto meltdown. they didn’t even write a proof of concept. Call me when they actually trapease or do something.
Binance chain (BNB) is a fork of ethereum that is specifically created for frauds. Coinbase does not have one.
Binance lists monero, the currency of darknet markets. Coinbase stays far away from any privacy coin that could raise flags.
Yes report writing was the worst and half the week was easily dedicated to that. PM’s and account managers pushed Friday readouts so it was a high priority so you would stay late to finish everything before you started another assessment the following Monday. Readouts for last week and kick off for a new project on the same day we’re the worst but happened every so often.
It was never find a bug, report and move on. It was dedicate the whole day to making it clear, presenting to the client and integrating feedback.
Don’t get me started on review. Every client doc had to have 2 reviews including from at least one senior and they put it off as much as possible.
But yeah crypto grifts sucks but my college roommate now works at Goldman Sachs, an old university TA works Exxon offshore drilling, a couple of classmates are African logistics specialists (acquire land at ANY cost including literally lying to poor peasants to sign over property) at Bain. Is there a ranking for better or worse?
All of capitalism and by extension society is rotten to the core.
Yes the tech is not usually innovative or groundbreaking but nothing I worked on in my web2 career or college was cutting edge either.
When looking for a new job this year I got a l6 offer at meta, senior at apple, staff cloudflare and a couple of startup offers. Not only was the base pay significantly less, the tech and companies were boring, most required in office attendance.
So I went with a blockchain company because they were chill, fully distributed, pay was high, and work interesting (we use a lot of cryptography, I have 2 phd’s on my team).
Am I a cryptobro believing this field is the future? No it could all go to zero. Has crypto allowed me to retire and make more money than nearly every colleague in university and FAANGS? Yes.
Growing up my mom ran a small business out of the home and told us that while she was in the garage with a client we were not allowed to enter or bother her for any reason. It was like she was at a different location.
If the biggest player in the crypto space can’t get enough users, I’m doubting any real adoption.
K&R and Unix Programming we’re two of the few books in my local library that were about programming. My hacker career/life started with reading page one of K&R. I never looked back.
I’m turning 33 next month and really want children. I have endless memories of my dad and grandfathers teaching me amazing lessons and being best/strongest men I have ever been around. I want to fulfill that role that for someone! We didn’t have much money but camping or diy building is something fondly reminisce on and made me who I am.
My partner is 25 and is not decided on children yet due to also growing up poor and and having a rougher realationship with their fam. We’ve lived together a year now but she recently got an IUD and was happy about the ‘10 years of freedom’.
To her kids is a ‘probably after I finish all my goals/traveling’.
We were recently vacationing in Barcelona and met 3 young boys at the hotel and played a game of uno with them in the lobby. They lived in the Bay Area and I imagine their parents were techies, they were indian, 6-12yrs, long hair, well spoken, had skateboards, and wearing tie dye.
I CANNOT stop thinking about them.
I’m considering an ultimatum but I love her so much.
Sorry for the rant HN, I just needed somewhere to say it.
Seeing as you’re the CTO of a nft company you clearly have bias.
