xzcvczx··on What would you people suggest for this website, to add into it?
well i would first concentrate on fixing the GLARING errors on there already......

for eg. Basic C test

"What is the legal range of values for a int in C Language"

A) 0-65535 B) -128-127 C) -32768-32767 D) 0-255

None of these is necessarily the right answer

I am not offended at all by her trying to get out of the shitty situation, and she has my sympathies for the situation she found herself in, however after seeing a fair few instances of the DMCA being used in the past for censorship as opposed to "protecting copyright" (and yes i realise she owns the copyright on the photo, so technically it can be considered protecting copyright) where it has turned into a streisand effect. including people replicating the hosting of the image/video/media in thousands of places to rebel against the censorship of the internet, based on a law from a single country
xzcvczx··on My embarrassing picture went viral
the thing i find surprising here is that the DMCA (assuming anyway) act is being used for blatant censorship, aka she wants her photo off the internet not because of its artistic qualities but because she doesn't like it being on the internet,

And while the internet can be rude and obnoxious if she is not careful she has a good chance of doing a streisand by trying to censor the internet using the DMCA which is the wrong tool for the job

xzcvczx··on Ask HN: Could Snowden still be a U.S. agent?
not really....

With the new information available to the general public IF and i mean IF they really wanted to do something nasty it would now be easy to provide mis-information in a way that has a good chance of being picked up and using it as a distraction to actually do something.

While they have access to a lot of communication sneaker-net is still a lot more likely to be untraced and therefore a lot harder to snoop on.

xzcvczx··on Ubuntu to replace Firefox with chromium
I do believe that chromium doesn't send too much data to google compared to chrome but i also find that chrome/chromium is significantly faster at loading many sites that i use on a daily basis and could be reason to switch, also with firefox's 6-week release schedule it seems that many people are becoming frustrated with the constant updates, all decent reasons to consider a change of default web browser.
xzcvczx··on Ask HN: What's the easiest way to host a static website?
nearlyfreespeech.net or any other hosting website?
xzcvczx··on Russia plans unmanned moon mission in 2015
and so begins the 2nd space race to the moon
xzcvczx··on Ask HN: Do you agree with Blocking ADS
you could say that every (external) link on hacker news is an ad
xzcvczx··on Ask HN: Do you agree with Blocking ADS
I agree with blocking ads because so many of them have just got so damn intrusive lately, to the point where if your mouse pointer ends up over the wrong part of the screen it takes over the whole screen, and the other ones that really annoy me are the ones that have sound and automatically play. To that end i believe blocking ads can be the solution until sites stop using such intrusive ads. The intrusive ads are also more likely to make me despise the product being advertised instead of wanting to buy it so there is no advantage a lot of the time having the ads enabled
xzcvczx··on Ask HN: A porn-like site stole my [firstnamelastname].com domain. What to do?
That is because they have trademarks that most courts would accept, noone has a trademark on their name. Well not normally anyway
xzcvczx··on Ask: what do you think about my website design?
the indication that you are always on the main page can get a bit confusing.
