I think there are two ways to look at that. 1) The relevant characteristics of these models shouldn't be specialist. 2) Cheaper, constrained portals to the internet may be subsidized by Google, Facebook, etc.

Some business and industries do more social good than others. We're all still adjusting to the internet. I'm on the side of leaning towards giving NYT a pass for this. It was a single chat interaction, not so bad.

The interaction didn't seem that bad to me. The business is hurting and valuable. I can kind of see how you'd get there and want "customer retention specialists", who are people that have a job they don't like where they are probably measured on some metric related to how many cancels they let through. Sucks all around, but again I was expecting so much worse.

And OpenWRT dropbear only just recently got ed25519 support at mainline. Not in a release yet.

I have a vanity domain which I use to exercise my internet independence :) I've been using PowerDNS with a hidden master, public secondaries, dns updates with lua authorization for dynamic ips and let's encrypt for years. Also the recursor for local systems.

I received great help and had some fun chats on IRC in the beginning. PowerDNS has been a great part of my "infrastructure". My only complaint is that packagers and other naming can't choose between 'powerdns' and 'pdns' :)

This is completely unqualified, but on top of that I'm guessing they're very hard on most household dishes and such.
