xswhiskey··on Hanami 3.0: In Full Bloom
It'd be nice to see some benchmarks to compare the before vs after on the perf gains in the Faster by default heading.

Love the work though; having beautifully crafted options like Hanami around is a joy.

xswhiskey··on Ghostty is leaving GitHub
Possibly in a few years from now we'll get actual data about how many outages we've seen or how much have x services degraded, overlapped with the push for "AI everywhere".
xswhiskey··on Windows 11's Patch Tuesday nightmare gets worse
How can a company this big fail so hard in what one would consider their main* product still baffles me.

*Yes, they probably make more revenue in Azure or Office365 licenses but at least when I think “Microsoft” I immediately think Windows.

xswhiskey··on Affinity Studio now free
Yes, this is it.

Affinity is a series of products by Serif Labs; which were acquired by Canva about a year ago.

xswhiskey··on A gentle introduction to anchor positioning
It being available on WebKit makes me hopeful for general adoption then.
xswhiskey··on A Mouse Becomes a Camera
This is amazing, but when I read the title I expected a small rodent creature being a camera via questionable biohacking.

Still an amazing and more ethical feat.

xswhiskey··on Tachyons – A CSS Toolkit
I’ve been using it for a couple years now, absolutely love it. I personally prefer it over Tailwind (and don’t feel like learning _another_ css framework) and, ngl, the “components” section of the page is a big reason for it.

When I started using it, if I needed a card or a list I could go to the components section and pick one, copy-paste it and then change it to my liking. When I tried the same in tailwind I was faced with a paywall and automatically lost all interest.

xswhiskey··on Ask HN: I’m falling out of love with coding
Been there, felt that. Have you tried learning a new technology just for fun? When I got tired of PHP, switched to Ruby and the love and feel of wonder was there. When I got tired of my corporate job tech stack, I looked for a freelance side gig where I now spent most of my time and weekends because the challenge is fun.

Maybe finding a side project you actually like and understand can help.
