They provide a great service, and I use them all the time, but I don't like how their pricing scheme works for freelancers. You end up with a million small private repositories, and BitBucket has much more reasonable options.
xorglorb··on The Document Which Was Formerly Called The MIT Guide to Lockpicking
It depends on whether you want to make them yourself or buy them. If you want to make them yourself, street sweeper bristles work well (just follow a street sweeper on a bicycle and you'll get a few), as do the strips of spring steel inside of windshield wipers. Then, just look up some tutorials on how to make them (I'm sure youtube has a few decent ones). If you want to buy them, Southord has some really nice sets, and I personally recommend the PXS-14 for a beginner (I use it daily).

Thanks.

Any chance of a visitors over time graph? It would be interesting to see the traffic distribution over time.
xorglorb··on Why and How I Migrated from Posterous to Self-Hosted WordPress
As another security interested person (who does not claim to be anything remotely near an expert), my suggestion is to have a static site, generated using something like Jekyll. Most blogs don't need server-side code running, and Disqus works great for comments.
xorglorb··on A monospace that looks like a proportional
They're distributing it through a PPA, so assuming that you click "Install" when update manager bugs you once a week, you should have the newest version.
xorglorb··on PostgreSQL 9.1 released
Nearly all of the introductory PHP tutorials use MySQL, so many beginning web developers automatically go to MySQL because it is the only thing they have played around with.
xorglorb··on Fucking Sue Me
Most companies also have steady revenue streams.
xorglorb··on White House proposes crowdfunding exemption
It passed? I haven't been able to find anything about it passing, and GovTrack[0] still shows that neither the house nor senate has voted on it.

xorglorb··on Firefox and IE's "View source" can be spoofed to show anything
Since the site seems to be down, you can read the article (no images unfortunately) in Google's Cache[1].

xorglorb··on Iran forged the wrong SSL certificate
There is no approval process, no central authority. If you want your CA in OS X, you talk to Apple, if you want it in Windows, you talk to Microsoft. If you want it in Firefox, you talk to Mozilla.
xorglorb··on Sublime Text 2 (Build 2111) gets vi key bindings, indent guides
You should still buy it though. The authors made a great product and deserve to be compensated well for their work.
xorglorb··on UK ruling makes Internet browsing a copyright risk
You could use a HTTP header, for example:

    X-Cache-Permission: Allow
xorglorb··on IOS 5 beta 4 is out
Try updating OTA, it worked perfectly for me.
xorglorb··on Fusker - a NodeJS security system that attacks back
I'm not an expert, but HTTP travels over TCP and, if I remember correctly, TCP uses sequence numbers to prevent IP spoofing.
xorglorb··on Xcode 4.1 now available free from the Mac App Store
Apple's definition of a "Universal Binary" is an executable the runs on both PPC and x86. However, it is possible to create a fat binary that runs on all three architectures at the same time.

An example of how to do it: http://ngmarley.com/blog/osx-universal-binary/

xorglorb··on Independent TrueCrypt implementation imported into DragonFly BSD
> the fact that they've been known to change their binaries

It was shown that the change was only to the license embedded in the installer, the actual executables were unchanged.

xorglorb··on Senator Dick Durbin [D-IL] responds to my anti-Protect IP petition
Wow, that is strikingly similar. I notice how neither commented on the technical ramifications of this, and gave a generic "this will protect us from evil pirates" response.
xorglorb··on Go Rocks - How Can We Avoid Something This Bad In The Future?
I don't mind those as much, but what really kills it for me is the lack of separation between the language and the standard library.
xorglorb··on What's in a SMS message? The real cost & just how badly you're being ripped off
> Many of us work on SaaS solutions, which have little to no marginal cost, yet we charge for the service.

The cost of programmers to create the product, the cost of servers, system admins, etc. Those aren't small costs.

xorglorb··on Free Application Web Hosting: DreamHost Apps
Also, as discussed in another thread[1], DreamHost stores passwords in a recoverable fashion (apparently some custom-rolled symmetric crypto algorithm) and supposedly gives devs root access to production machines.

It's not their honesty that worries me, it's their security.

xorglorb··on IPad 2 JailBreakMe (3.0) now available
Given that they are delta updates, they will probably be able to push a patch within a few days. Let's hope they take advantage of it.
xorglorb··on Hover.com: we store & email passwords in plaintext for usability
Yes. They will email your password to you if you click the "forgot my password" link.
xorglorb··on Hover.com: we store & email passwords in plaintext for usability
DreamHost also stores passwords in a recoverable fashion, FYI.
xorglorb··on Ask HN: What's with the top black border on HN today?
I believe that it is in memory of Robert Morris.
xorglorb··on HTML5 Nyan Cat
It's kind of amazing what you can do with what was originally nothing more than a document markup language. It will also be an absolute nightmare with web advertisements. Now we will need Canvas/WebGL/HTML5 Audio block as well as FlashBlock.
xorglorb··on Voice search enabled on Google homepage (Chrome)
Works just fine on 14.0.797.0.
xorglorb··on Chrome to block insecure resources by default
Google's CDN has YUI over SSL:

xorglorb··on Sleep Sort
It's actually an interesting solution. If you reduced the time waited to a microsecond, then it would take about a second to sort 1M elements. Definitely not an optimal solution, and has a bit of potential for race conditions (if one thread/process got hung up on I/O), but interesting none the less.
